The Lowdown
G'day, I'm Rusty, and here's the outlook. It's a rough one for the next couple of weeks. The first few days are a total write-off, with tiny, weak swell and onshore winds making for a grim picture. The whole first week is a bust, with no real surf. We're looking at a gap of several days before anything worthwhile turns up.
The best chance of a wave comes around Thursday, August 27th. Whistling Sands (Porth Oer) will see a 3 ft swell from the SSW, with a short period of 7 seconds. The combined energy is moderate (110). The real kicker here is the light offshore wind from the SE in the morning, which will keep the waves clean. It's a rare bright spot in a bleak forecast, but given the shallow, sheltered nature of the spot, it might be worth a look for a beginner-friendly session. The water temperature anomaly is not mentioned, so it's about average for the time of year.
The following weekend, particularly Saturday, August 29th, sees a jump in size with a 7 ft to 8 ft groundswell from the WSW, but it's paired with a strong 19 mph onshore wind. The combined energy will be strong (350 to 485), but the conditions will be lumpy and messy. This is one for the experts only, and honestly, the setup looks more interesting for kite surfing than paddle surfing.
After that, there's nothing else of note. The forecast is a bleak one, with very few consistent breaks on offer. We'll have to wait and see if the forecasts change. Keep your eyes peeled.
Rusty.
