Alright, Rusty here. Let’s take a look at what’s cooking.
Honestly, it’s a tough run ahead. The whole 16-day stretch is pretty much a write-off for decent surf. The wind is messing things up almost constantly, and the wave heights just don’t have the shape or oomph to give us anything clean and rideable. We’re looking at a massive gap with absolutely no solid recommendations from day one.
Starting from July 5th, right through to July 20th, it’s all poor surf conditions. The swell never really gets a clean run. Early on, July 5th morning, we’ve got a tiny 3 ft swell from the N, but it’s blown out by a moderate onshore breeze. The water temperature’s sitting at 72°, which is about normal for this time of year. The wave energy is weak (136) – just not enough to get excited about. The whole first week shows short-period, weak swells, never over 4 ft, and always with a cross or onshore wind. It’s choppy and lumpy, not worth paddling out for.
By the second week, July 12th through the 20th, the swell does pick up. We see heights reaching 5 ft on July 18th, and by July 20th it’s up to 6 ft from the N with a moderate wave energy (520). But the catch? The winds are still cross-onshore, often fresh, keeping the surface messy. The period stays short, around 7-9 seconds, so it’s not packing the punch you’d hope for. There’s no standout session here. The only break on offer, Suicides, is a consistent reef setup, but with these constant cross-onshore breezes, the quality just isn’t there. It’s basically a kite-surfing kind of wind, not a paddle-surfing one.
So, looking ahead, there’s nothing to recommend. Not one standout day. If you’re itching for a wave, keep an eye on the charts, because this stretch looks like a long, flat, blown-out slog.
Rusty.
