Table - best surf conditions forecast for South Broulee over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s on the cards for South Broulee over the next couple of weeks.
The first half of the outlook is pretty quiet, with a few small windows of clean surf but nothing that’ll get you calling in sick. The real standout action kicks off in the second week, with a couple of days that look seriously good.
We start off on Friday morning, July 10. The swell is a clean 4ft from the SE with a period of 9 seconds, and the wind is glassy from the WNW. The water is sitting at 63°F, which is about average for this time of year, so no surprises there. The combined energy is moderate (348). It’s a good, honest little wave for a beginner on a longboard. South Broulee is a beginner-friendly spot, and with the glassy conditions, this is a decent session. Expect crowds, though – it can get busy.
The surf drops right off after that. Saturday the 11th has some small, 3ft ESE swell with clean offshore wind in the morning, but it’s tiny. From Sunday the 12th right through to Thursday the 16th, it’s flat or messy. There’s a gap of about five days where you’re better off leaving the board in the shed. The combined energy reads as low as 6 and 8 on some of those days – just not worth it.
Now, things get interesting. Friday morning, July 17 is the first real standout. We’ve got a solid 8ft groundswell out of the east with a long 11-second period. The combined energy is a massive 1296 (strong), and the wind is glassy again. That’s a proper, powerful east swell. For a beginner, this is pushing it – over 5ft is too big, and 8ft is firmly in the experienced-surfer zone. The long period means better shaped waves, but at a beach break like South Broulee, it might break a bit straight. Still, with glassy conditions, this is the best on offer. The morning session is the go.
Sunday morning, July 19 is another absolute cracker. Swell is 8ft from the east, period stretching to 12 seconds, and the combined energy hits 1480 (very strong). Glassy wind again. This is for the confident crew only – over 8ft on the next session? No, this one is 8ft, but it’s powerful. The consistency is there, and the offshore wind in the afternoon keeps it clean. If you’re an expert, don’t miss the Sunday morning glass-off.
The rest of the week settles into a more manageable 4ft to 5ft range from the east and ESE, with clean offshore winds in the mornings. From Monday the 20th through to Saturday the 25th, there’s a consistent run of fun, surfable waves. The combined energy drops to moderate levels (400-600), and the period sits around 9-11 seconds. The mornings are the call – glassy or light offshore winds. It’s not the size of the standouts, but it’s consistent and clean. A solid stretch for a few waves without the crazy power.
Overall, the standouts are clear: Friday July 17 morning and Sunday July 19 morning. Both are big, powerful east swells with glassy conditions. For the rest, it’s a steady diet of smaller, clean waves in the mornings.
Stay stoked,
Rusty
