Table - best surf conditions forecast for Schnappers Point over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s take a good hard look at what Schnappers Point has on the table. I gotta be straight with you – this is a tough one. We’ve got a 16-day window here, and for the first week and a half, it’s pretty much a flat spell. You’ll see a few tiny pulses of energy, but nothing that’s gonna get your heart racing until the end of the run.
So, the story starts on Sunday, July 13th. There’s a little 2ft swell from the NNW, but with a pathetic 4-second period, it’s just not doing anything. That’s a no-go. Monday the 14th is our first glimmer of hope. Tuesday morning, the 15th of July, we get a 3ft swell from the N with 7-second period, combined energy of 93 (weak) and glassy conditions from a light SW wind. It’s surfable, but very ordinary. That Tuesday afternoon bumps up to 4ft from the NNW, with a better combined energy of 274 (moderate), but the wind goes onshore from the NW, so it’s a bit of a mess.
From there, it’s a long, dry stretch. We’re looking at days and days of tiny waves, mostly under 1ft, with very long period signals from the NNW (15-16 seconds) that just don’t have any size. Those long-period swells are classic groundswell, which at a point break like Schnappers Point could be okay, but without any height, they’re just ripples. The combined energy drops to single and low double digits – basically a pond. Conditions are often glassy, but there’s nothing to ride. It’s a cruel joke.
The only thing that pops up as worth a mention is Tuesday, July 22nd. We’ve got a 2ft swell from the N, 11-second period, with a combined energy of 82 (weak) and clean, offshore wind from the S. That’s the best we see. It’s small, but that offshore wind will make it clean and peaky. For a point break like this, that long-period, straight N swell might not wrap in perfectly, but it's the only window where things line up at all. After that, it’s back to the flatness right through to the 27th.
Look, the water temp is sitting around 55°F, which is about average for this time of year, so at least you won’t be freezing your tail off for nothing.
To be honest, for the first 10 days, it's a kite-surfing setup if the wind is up, but for a paddle surfer, it’s a long wait. The only real standout, and I say that lightly, is that Tuesday morning, July 22nd. It’s clean, offshore, and there’s a pulse. It’s your best bet, but keep your expectations low.
That’s the long and short of it. Keep your eyes on the forecast, things can turn.
Rusty.
