Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright, this is a tough one to look at. The forecast for the next 16 days at Schnappers Point is mostly flat, so we’re going to be waiting for anything rideable. The first few days are a write-off, and there's a big stretch right in the middle where the ocean just goes to sleep.
We’re kicking off Monday the 6th. Morning shows a tiny 1ft NW windswell with a short 14-second period, blowing offshore from the SSE. The combined swell energy is weak at just (43), and the conditions are very ordinary—surfable but barely worth the rubber. That afternoon drops to 0.7ft, and it’s poor.
Tuesday the 7th has a similar vibe: 2ft N swell in the morning, still short period (8s), with offshore wind from the SE. Energy creeps up to a modest (71), but it’s still very ordinary. The heavy rain will keep the crowds away—if anyone was even thinking about going. Afternoon gets worse.
Wednesday the 8th is near-flat. Thursday the 9th sees a weird little 0.7ft NNW groundswell with a very long 16-second period, but don't get excited. The energy is only (24) and the conditions are poor. A long-period swell that small at a point break like this won’t do much good.
Then from Friday the 10th through to the morning of Tuesday the 14th, it’s a long, flat spell. Day after day of zeros or 0.3ft slop. Hardly a ripple. That’s a solid 5-day gap with no real recommendations.
We finally see a pulse arrive Wednesday morning the 15th. Swell builds to 4ft N at 8 seconds, with cross-shore wind from the ENE. The energy jumps to (158)—moderate again—but the wind is cross, making it messy. By Wednesday afternoon, the swell hits 6ft N with 9-second period, and the energy cranks up to (495). That is a strong pulse of wave energy, but the wind is still cross, and the conditions are described as marginal. This is the best-looking window in the whole outlook, but with cross-shore wind and that short period, it’s not going to be clean. At 6ft it’s a bit too much for beginners, but for intermediates it might offer some lumpy options.
Thursday the 16th is bigger—6ft NNE swell with a 10-second period, energy at a strong (600)—but the wind is cross-onshore from the NNE at 15 mph, making it choppy and poor for paddle surfing. This setup would be more interesting for kite surfing than a traditional surf.
Friday the 17th sees the swell drop back to 2ft N with offshore wind from the SE. Energy is low again (63), but at least it’s clean with a gentle offshore flow. Very ordinary but rideable.
From Saturday the 18th onward, it’s back to tiny, poor conditions all the way to the end of the forecast on Tuesday the 21st.
Honestly, if you’re desperate for a paddle, the Wednesday afternoon on the 15th is your only real shot at something with push, but don’t expect perfection. The rest of this window is a waiting game.
Rusty.
