The Lowdown
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at the surf forecast for Schnappers Point.
It’s gonna be a tough stretch for surfers around here. We start with a little pulse on Tuesday the 14th, but it’s pretty ordinary. Tuesday morning has a tiny 3ft N swell with a short period of 7 seconds, and weak energy of 85. The wind is light cross from the WSW, so it’s not doing us any favours. The waves are messy. Tuesday afternoon lifts a bit to 4ft from the NNW with an 8-second period, giving us 229 units of moderate energy, and a clean offshore wind from the NNW, but the forecast still calls it marginal. Water temp is 55° and about average for this time of the year.
Honestly, Wednesday the 15th looks even smaller, with just 2ft to 2ft of weak swell. Wednesday afternoon has glassy conditions, which is a beautiful thing for the surface, but the waves are barely breaking. Same story carries right through the week and into the next.
From Thursday morning the 16th onward, we’re looking at mostly 2ft or less of north swell, with energy figures in the low single digits, and long periods creeping in later, but the height just isn’t there. By the 17th, we’ve got waves at 0.7ft or less, and it goes totally flat from Sunday the 19th through until the morning of the 27th of July. That’s a solid week of no surf. After that, a tiny 0.3ft N swell reappears, period around 14 seconds, but it’s not rideable.
There are no standout days here. The best chance for a paddle is likely Tuesday afternoon the 14th, with a 4ft NNW swell and offshore wind, but it’s still marginal. The rest of the run is just flat or too small to bother with. For the local crew, this is one of those blank spells that happens – forecasts can always change, but right now, the ocean’s taking a long nap.
Stay patient, keep an eye on the sky.
Rusty.
