Table - best surf conditions forecast for Schnappers Point over the next 16 days.
The Lowdown
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s on the table for Schnappers Point.
Honestly, it’s a pretty grim start. We’re looking at a long stretch of days with nothing to get excited about. From Friday the 17th all the way through to Thursday the 24th, the swell is flat or barely a ripple. The wind might be clean at times, but without any waves, it’s just a nice day to be at the beach, not to surf. You’re looking at over a week of nothing.
The first hint of anything rideable shows up on Friday the 24th, but it’s not pretty. That afternoon, a new swell builds to 4.3 ft from the north, but a strong onshore wind from the NW at 9 mph is going to chop it up. The wave energy is moderate (186), but the conditions are poor. This one is for the die-hards only.
Things improve a little on Saturday the 1st of August. That morning, we’ve got a clean 3.9 ft swell from the north, with a light offshore breeze from the south at 6 mph. The energy is solid (210), and the winds are clean. It’s not a massive day, but it’s the best we’ve seen in this whole 16-day window. The water temp is sitting at 54.5°, which is about average for this time of year, so no surprises there.
The standout here is the Saturday morning session. The swell is a manageable size for intermediates, the wind is offshore, and the waves are clean. It’s not a world-beater, but after all that flatness, it’ll feel like a gift. The point break setup should handle that north swell alright, though the period is only 8 seconds, so it’s a bit of a short-period windswell, not a long, grinding groundswell.
After that, the afternoon glassed off, but the swell drops back to 3.3 ft, so the morning is the call.
No other days in this forecast come close. It’s a long, dry spell, then a single decent morning. Keep an eye on the forecasts, because it tends not to stay this flat for long around here, but for now, that Saturday is your only real chance.
Short Range ForecastMostly dry. Very mild (max 13°C on Fri afternoon, min 6°C on Fri morning). Wind will be generally light. | Days 4-6 Weather SummaryMostly dry. Very mild (max 13°C on Tue afternoon, min 7°C on Mon night). Wind will be generally light. | ||||||||||||||||||||
