Table - best surf conditions forecast for Schnappers Point over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's on the menu for Schnappers Point over the next couple of weeks.
Right off the bat, it’s a slow start. We’ve got a long, flat spell running right through the first few days. From Thursday the 9th of July right through to Monday the 13th, it’s pretty much a write-off. You’ll see tiny, unridable bumps and a lot of glassy flat water. It’s a proper lull.
Things finally wake up on Tuesday the 14th of July. The morning is the real standout. We’re looking at a solid 7 ft swell thumping in from the north, with a moderate energy reading (1096). That’s a big push. The wind is dead calm, glassy off the water, which is a major bonus. The wave comment suggests it’s excellent surf for experienced surfers, and that’s spot on. Over 8 ft starts getting into expert-only territory, so this one sits right at the top end for strong intermediates. The afternoon drops off to 5 ft from the NNW, still glassy, but the energy is way down (380). It’s still a good session, but the morning is the real deal.
We then get another dry spell. Wednesday the 15th and Thursday the 16th are mostly small and weak, with a few tiny, ordinary waves. Not worth paddling out for.
The next real highlight comes on Sunday the 19th of July. The morning session brings a solid 5 ft north swell, a very clean cross-off breeze, and strong energy (704). The wave comment says "very good surf conditions," which lines up perfectly. The afternoon pushes up to 6 ft from the north, with a long period of 13 seconds and massive energy (1170). That’s a serious groundswell. The wind turns onshore, which is a shame, but for a point break like this, a long-period north swell is a dream setup. It’s likely to be a bit more lined up and powerful, but the onshore wind will mess with the surface. The morning is the cleaner pick.
Monday the 20th of July still has some decent leftovers, with 5 ft from the north in the morning, but the energy is dropping (546). It’s still clean, but not as punchy as Sunday.
After that, the surf fades back into mediocrity for the rest of the window. Small, weak, and ordinary.
The water temp is sitting at 56°F with a small positive anomaly, so it’s a touch warmer than average for this time of year, but still a full wetsuit job.
The one true standout on the whole board is the Tuesday morning, 14th of July. Big, clean, glassy, and powerful. Sunday the 19th morning is a very close second, with cleaner conditions but a slightly smaller swell. If you’re looking for a paddle, those are your windows.
Stay safe, and don't be a hero in the big stuff.
Rusty.
