Table - best surf conditions forecast for Meatworks over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here again. Let’s break this down in feet and miles.
Honestly, the next few days are a total bust. We’re looking at a solid week of flat, weak junk with nothing to ride. Don’t bother waxing up until things change.
The first real pulse arrives on Friday morning, July 17th. We’ve got a 4ft groundswell from the ESE, with a nice long 15-second period. The energy is solid (932) and the wind is offshore from the WSW – clean. That’s a good sign. The real standout, though, is Friday afternoon at Meatworks. The swell holds at 4ft, still from the ESE, period still 15 seconds, and the energy jumps to a strong 1524. The wind is a clean cross-off from the SW, and the report says "excellent surf conditions for experienced surfers." This is the one. That long period will make the waves line up nicely at this reef-and-beach setup. The direction is a little off the optimum SE, but with that power and clean wind, it’s the best call of the window.
The water temp is 52°F, which is about 0.9°F warmer than normal – nothing special, just a touch above average.
Sunday the 19th gets heavy. The swell is 8ft from the S with a massive 17-second period, but the wind is a strong 18 mph cross-off from the SW. The energy is huge at 3085. That’s a lot of water moving, but conditions are rated marginal. That’s for experts only, and even then, it’ll be a challenge.
The next week looks much better. Monday the 20th is a solid pick with 4ft from the S, 13-second period, and a clean offshore wind from the W. Energy is moderate (643) and the rating is very good. Tuesday the 21st is a weaker day – 5ft but with a short 8-second period. Skip it.
Wednesday the 22nd is another standout. The morning glass-off with a 6ft SSE swell, 11-second period, and clean conditions. The energy is strong (891) and the wind is glassy from the N. That’s a beautiful morning. The afternoon holds the same size and direction with glassy conditions. Thursday the 23rd looks similar – 5ft SSE, glassy, good energy. The pattern holds through the end of the week with smaller but clean waves.
So, mark your calendar for Friday afternoon the 17th for the punchy, clean groundswell, and Wednesday morning the 22nd for the consistent, glassy, mid-sized swell. Those are the two to chase.
Rusty.
