Table - best surf conditions forecast for Punta Prima over the next 16 days.
G’day, Rusty here. Let’s be straight with you—this Punta Prima outlook is a tough one. For the full 16-day run from July 8th through July 23rd, there’s not a single surf session worth paddling out for. Everything’s coming up as poor surf conditions with a score of zero. We’re looking at a long, dry spell.
The first couple of days are completely flat with no swell. Tiny waves do start to show up from July 9th afternoon onward, but they never get above 3 ft and the energy is weak. Even on July 21st morning when we see the biggest swell of the period—3 ft from the SSW with a 7-second period and combined energy of 100 (moderate)—the wind is a light cross-shore from the north, but it’s still flagged as poor surf. The swell direction (SSW) is a long way off the optimum ESE, so it won’t wrap in well at this exposed spot.
There is one morning that’s a real tease—July 19th Sunday morning. It’s glassy, with a slight air and clean conditions, but the swell is next to nothing: 0.3 ft from the NE at 4 seconds, with combined energy of just 1. That’s barely a ripple.
Honestly, for this stretch, the consistent lack of any decent swell means there’s nothing to recommend. It’s a blank run that’s pretty normal for the area in this quiet season. Punters wanting to get wet will just have to wait for the forecast to change.
Rusty.
