The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s break this down for Punta Prima.
Honestly, it’s a pretty flat run for the next two weeks. From now all the way through to around the 11th of September, the surf is tiny and weak, mostly under 2 feet, with short periods that won’t give you anything to work with. The wind is often onshore or cross-onshore, which just makes it worse. You’re not missing much.
The only real pulse comes on the morning of Saturday the 12th of September, when we see a bump to about 5 feet from the northeast, with a short period and moderate energy (110). It’s still not perfect—light cross-onshore wind—but it’s the biggest we get. That afternoon holds around 4 feet from the east-northeast.
After that, the swell fades back down to tiny, waist-high junk for the rest of the outlook. There are a few glassy mornings, like Monday the 14th and Tuesday the 15th, but the waves are just too small to bother with. The water’s sitting at about 78°F, which is a touch warmer than normal.
Bottom line: there are no real standouts here. Keep your board waxed for Saturday the 12th if you’re really itching, but don’t expect much. Otherwise, it’s a quiet couple weeks.
Rusty.
