The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s be straight up about this stretch – it’s a tough watch. For the entire 16-day outlook, we’re looking at a run of tiny, weak surf. There’s not a single standout session in there, just a whole lotta nothing between now and the end of the month.
Right from the jump, Tuesday morning we’ve got a tiny 1ft easterly swell sliding in at 6 seconds. That’s barely a ripple, and the combined energy is a weak 11. Water temp is sitting at 80°, which is much warmer than normal for this time of year. Wind is glassy, so it’s clean, but there’s just no push.
Wednesday through to the weekend is more of the same – knee-high dribble at best. Swell barely cracks 2ft, period stays short and weak, and the wind starts mixing it up with cross-offs and cross-ons. Nothing worth paddling for.
We hit a small bump on Monday the 20th with another glassy morning, but again, 2ft at 5 seconds is just not gonna get it done. Energy is only 16. That pattern holds for the next week – tiny pulses of 2ft to 2ft, mostly short period, and the wind is often onshore or cross-shore, making things choppy and messy.
The best-looking window is Sunday the 26th. We’ve got 3ft from the ENE, with a 6-second period and combined energy climbing to 53. That’s the biggest number we see all forecast. The morning is glassy, so it’ll look clean. But 3ft is still small, and for a spot that’s inconsistent and exposed to an easterly swell, it’s a gamble. It’s the pick of a bad lot, but don’t expect much.
Honestly, for a break like Punta Prima, which is inconsistent at the best of times, this is a long stretch of poor surf. If you’re desperate for a paddle, maybe the morning of the 26th is your best shot, but keep the expectations low. For everyone else, it’s time to find something else to do.
Rusty.
