The Lowdown
Alright, mate, I'm going to be straight with you: looking at the entire 16-day window here, there really isn't a single standout session. We're looking at a long, dry spell of tiny, weak surf. The real kicker is that every single entry in the forecast is marked as "poor surf conditions." We’ve got a solid gap from the start of the period all the way through to around the 18th of August where the swell is just too small to get excited about—mostly ankle to knee-high dribble, if anything at all.
The only real glimmer comes on the morning of August 18th and then into the afternoon of the 18th. That Tuesday morning, Punta Prima might see a tiny bump up to 2ft from the ENE, but it's only a 4-second period (weak, short-period junk) and the combined energy is a measly 10 (weak energy). It’ll be glassy though, so a longboarder might get a few knee-high wobbles.
The afternoon of the 18th is the biggest swell we'll see, hitting 5ft from the ENE, but with a short 6-second period. The combined energy finally bumps up to a moderate 138, but it's still "poor surf conditions." The wind is onshore from the ESE at 15 km/h, which will make it a bit of a messy, choppy wall. That size and onshore wind is more of a kite-surfing setup than a good paddle session.
Because we have no real quality options, there's nothing to highlight as a true standout. The only break we have to work with is Punta Prima, which is an exposed spot that's inconsistent and often crowded. The water temperature is a very unusual 84°F, which is much warmer than normal for this time of year.
So, in short, it's a flat spell with one possible afternoon of marginal, onshore slop on the 18th. It’s a tough run, but forecasts can change.
