The Lowdown
Alright, Rusty again, switching over to imperial for you.
Let’s be honest, the 16-day forecast is flat as a pancake for most of it. The only break with any swell is Punta Prima, and it’s a long, drawn-out period of nothing special.
Punta Prima is an inconsistent beginner wave, open to an ESE swell direction. The water’s running at 82°, which is way warmer than it should be for this time of year.
On Monday the 24th, forget it. A tiny 2ft easterly swell with a 6-second period and weak energy (16). No go.
Tuesday the 25th morning is the best of a bad lot. The swell comes up a bit to 3ft from the SSW, same short 7-second period, energy at 75 (weak). There’s a light offshore wind from the W, so the surface will be clean. It’s surfable, but it’s nothing to write home about.
Thursday the 27th morning offers the same 3ft SSW swell, 7-second period, 77 energy, and glassy conditions. Clean but still ordinary.
Friday the 28th morning stands out. Swell is still 3ft from the SSW, but the energy finally climbs to 113 (moderate). The wind is cross-off from the NW, keeping it clean. For an inconsistent spot rated 2/5, this is your best shot.
After that, it’s a long stretch of tiny waves, onshore winds, and poor conditions from the 30th all the way to the 8th of September. Swell stays under 3ft, periods are short, and energy is weak.
If you’ve got to get wet, Friday morning the 28th at Punta Prima is the one—clean, a little bit of push, but don’t expect any barrels.
Rusty.
