Table - best surf conditions forecast for Playa de Xago over the next 16 days.
G’day, Rusty here. Let’s be straight with you: the next week or so is pretty flat and ordinary around Playa de Xago, but there’s a proper pulse coming in the second week that’s worth marking on the calendar. The water temp is sitting about average for the time of year, nothing wild.
Right now, through Monday the 13th and Tuesday the 14th, we’ve got tiny, weak waves—nothing over 2 ft, mostly from the north, with short periods around 7–9 seconds. The combined energy is barely registering (108 down to 26), and the wind is mostly cross or onshore. Not worth paddling out for.
Wednesday the 15th and Thursday the 16th stay tiny. A bit of glass early Wednesday morning but the swell is still only 2 ft from the north, period 8 seconds, energy at 39 (weak). Friday the 17th is glassy again in the morning but same story—1 ft, short period, no grunt.
Saturday the 18th sees a slight bump: 2 ft from the northwest, period still short at 6 seconds, but the morning is glassy with calm wind. The energy is only 42 (weak). It’s surfable but very ordinary. Sunday the 19th is similar, small and clean early but nothing to write home about.
Now, here’s where it gets interesting. Monday the 20th kicks off a proper run. The morning brings a solid 6 ft from the NNW, period 8 seconds, and combined energy jumping to 327 (moderate). Glassy conditions with slight air—that’s clean surf. The afternoon is a bit choppier with cross-shore wind, but the morning is the standout.
Tuesday the 21st still has a 4 ft NNW swell in the morning, period 7 seconds, energy 141 (moderate), and clean cross-off wind. The afternoon gets a stiff 16 mph cross-off, which blows the top off. Wednesday the 22nd stays around 4 ft from the NNW, period 8 seconds, energy 168 (moderate), but the wind is a moderate 12 mph cross-off—still clean, just a bit bumpy.
Thursday the 23rd fades quickly: 2 ft and onshore wind, poor.
Friday the 24th improves a little: 3 ft from the NW, period 8 seconds, energy 80 (weak), and glassy in the morning. Saturday the 25th is similar, 3 ft, period 9 seconds, energy 136 (moderate), glassy start. Sunday the 26th edges up to 4 ft from the NW, period 8 seconds, energy 188 (moderate), and glassy morning.
Then the real highlight: Monday the 27th brings a serious 7 ft NW swell, period 11 seconds, combined energy jumping to 881 (strong). The wind is moderate cross-off, keeping it clean. This is proper groundswell with long period, so it’ll wrap in nicely at Playa de Xago, an exposed beach break. The 7 ft size is solid—good for experienced surfers, a bit much for beginners. The stand-out, though, is Tuesday the 28th: 7 ft from the NW, period 11 seconds, energy at 1236 (very strong), glassy conditions with a light NNE breeze. That’s the best of the whole run. The period is over 11 seconds, so expect good shape and long gaps between sets. Crowds are often here, so expect company.
The only true standouts are the mornings of the 20th and 28th—the 28th especially, with that 7 ft NW groundswell and glassy wind. If you can wait, that’s the one.
Rusty.
