Table - best surf conditions forecast for El Sardinero - Primera over the next 16 days.
Alright, let’s have a look at what’s on offer here. To be straight with you, the next couple of weeks are looking pretty flat and lean for El Sardinero - Primera. It’s a real quiet spell. The water temp is sitting at 71°F which is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year, so that’s nice if you’re just having a swim, but for waves? Not much doing.
We’ve got a long stretch here with barely a ripple. From Saturday July 11th right through to the morning of Friday July 24th, it’s all poor surf conditions. Tiny swell, mostly under 2ft, and the energy is real weak – you’re looking at combined swell energy values in the double digits, mostly under 100, so we’re talking barely any push. The winds are a bit of a mix, some glassy mornings like Sunday July 12th morning and Thursday July 16th morning, but there’s just no swell to work with. It’s frustrating.
Now, the one glimmer of hope comes right at the tail end of the outlook. Saturday July 25th is the standout. We’ve got a pulse of swell pushing in from the NNW, around 6ft, with a period of 10 seconds. That’s a proper groundswell, and the energy jumps right up – 810 for the morning and 968 for the afternoon. That’s moderate to strong energy. The wind on Saturday morning is a cross-offshore from the west at 15 mph, which will keep the surface clean. By the afternoon, it goes cross-shore from the NW at 10 mph, a gentle cross-shore with just a slight chop. This is the best on offer in the whole period. The swell is over 5ft, so it’s a bit much for beginners, but for intermediates and up, this is the one to aim for. The break is sheltered, so it’ll handle that NW swell pretty well. Crowds are often here, so expect company.
Sunday July 26th still has some size, around 4ft from the NW, but the wind turns onshore from the ENE and NNE, and the energy drops back to moderate. It’s still surfable, but not as clean as Saturday.
So, bottom line: you’ve got a long flat spell until Saturday July 25th. That’s your day. The rest of the window is a write-off for decent waves. Don’t waste your time staring at a flat ocean until then.
