Alright, Rusty here, checkin' in.
It's a grim lookin' forecast, folks. We're talkin' a long stretch of tiny, weak surf that's just not worth paddlin' out for. The first week and a half is a real dud. After that, we get a little bump in size, but it's still nothin' to get excited about.
For the first week, from Sunday, July 5th all the way through the morning of Sunday, July 12th, the surf is mostly flat. Wave heights are stuck between 0.3m and 0.6m with short periods, and the wind is usually onshore or side-onshore. The wave energy is weak, mostly under 100 (59-101). Save your energy; there's just nothin' here.
On Sunday, July 12th, things start to change in the afternoon. The swell bumps up to a still-small 1.1m from the NW, with a period of 9 seconds. The energy starts to show a bit, hittin' a moderate 212. Problem is, the wind turns side-onshore and messes it up a bit. It's better than flat, but still not good.
Into Monday, July 13th and Tuesday, July 14th, the swell stays around 0.9m to 1.1m from the NNW. Tuesday morning (July 14th) is your best window at El Sardinero - Primera, with glassy conditions. The wind is dead calm, which is a major positive. The swell is small, but that clean, glassy surface is your best bet for somethin' rideable. The water is at 22°C, which is much warmer than normal, so at least you won't be freezin'.
After that, the swell kicks up again on Friday, July 17th. We see 1.5m from the NW, but the period is a short 6 seconds. The energy hits a moderate 187. The wind is offshore (cross-off from the W) keepin' it clean, but that short period means the waves will be kinda fat and gutless. It's not high quality, and at 1.5m it might be a bit much for beginners.
The final weekend sees the swell drop back down. Saturday, July 18th has some clean, cross-off winds, but the swell plummets to 0.6m-0.8m. The long-range outlook from July 19th and 20th is a return to tiny, onshore junk.
So, to be honest, there's no real standout session here. The best on offer is Tuesday morning, July 14th (El Sardinero - Primera) for the glassy conditions, and maybe Friday, July 17th for the biggest swell of the period, even though it's short period. It's a long, flat run with only a couple of very average windows.
Keep an eye on the charts, 'cause it usually don't stay this flat for long.
Rusty.
