Table - best surf conditions forecast for Norries Head over the next 16 days.
Alright, folks, Rusty here. Let's talk about what's coming up at Norries Head over the next couple of weeks.
Right now, we're looking at a pretty rough start. The first few days, from Wednesday the 8th through Friday the 10th, are basically a write-off. Swell's messy, winds are cross or cross-on, and there's nothing worth paddling out for. You'll be staring at choppy, poor surf – not your time.
Then, finally, we get a glimmer. Saturday the 11th of July is the standout window. Early morning, the wind goes glassy – dead calm with a light NNW breeze at 3 mph. The swell is a clean 5 ft from the southeast, with a period of 10 seconds, giving us moderate energy (583). That's going to produce some nice, clean lines for a point break. The break itself is a beginner-friendly point, but it's inconsistent and can get crowded, so don't expect endless waves. Saturday afternoon stays good too – the swell drops a touch to 4 ft from the ESE, period stretches to 12 seconds, and the wind swings to a cross-offshore northerly. Sunday morning, the 12th, also looks clean with a 4 ft SE swell and a light westerly cross-off. That's your best two-day run.
After that, things fall apart again. From Sunday afternoon onward, we hit a long dry spell. The swell fades, winds turn onshore or cross, and the energy drops to near zero. There's a tiny bump around the 21st and 22nd of July, but it's weak – small 3–5 ft easterly swells with short periods (7 seconds) – not enough to get excited about. The wind is okay, but the waves will be ordinary.
So, to sum it up: if you're keen, make a plan for Saturday the 11th morning. It's the only real window of quality in this 16-day stretch. Don't hold your breath for the rest.
Rusty.
