The Lowdown

Alright, Rusty here. Let me tell you straight up – it’s a real tough stretch for Nice. We’re looking at a long, flat spell. There is no surf worth paddling out for at the start, and it stays that way for over a week. The first real sniff of anything that might get your heart rate up doesn't show until around Monday, the 22nd of September, and even that's a maybe.

For the first several days, from Wednesday the 9th through to Sunday the 20th, you are looking at nothing but tiny, weak dribble or total flatness. There are days where the combined energy is as low as 0 or just 1 or 2. The only thing you’ll catch is a sun tan. Don't waste the wax.

There’s a slight pulse that tries to show on the afternoon of Monday the 22nd. The swell picks up to 3.6 ft from the east with a short period of 6 seconds. The combined energy hits a moderate 124. But even then, the word from the forecaster is "poor surf conditions," and you’re dealing with onshore wind. It looks more like a mess than a session.

Nothing else shapes up after that. The rest of the window through to the 24th is back to tiny, weak waves with poor winds and combined energy barely scraping double digits.

Water temp: For the first day on the 9th, the water is sitting at a very warm 81.3°F. That’s a massive 10.3°F warmer than normal for this time of year. Really unusual stuff.

Honestly, for this 16-day window, you’re better off leaving the boards in the car and doing something else. The setup here is just not cooperating.
