Table - best surf conditions forecast for Merewether - Ladies over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let's see what we've got coming up.
We're looking at a bit of a mixed bag over the next couple of weeks, but there are a couple of solid windows to get excited about. The main focus is on Merewether - Ladies, a reef setup that can handle a bit of size.
Kicking off this Saturday the 11th of July, we’ve got a nice little pulse of swell. Expect clean lines around 4ft from the southeast with a light offshore breeze. The energy is moderate (375) and it's going to be a really fun morning. That continues into the afternoon with a slightly smaller but still clean 3ft from the ESE, and the wave period stretching out to 11 seconds. This is the pick of the first week. Water temp is sitting about average for this time of year.
Sunday the 12th is still surfable in the morning with 3ft of SE swell, but the wind is going to be stronger—moderate offshore from the WNW. It won’t be as clean as Saturday, but still rideable. By the afternoon, it drops right off to 2ft and the wind goes cross-off, so don’t expect much.
Monday and Tuesday drop right away. These days are a write-off with tiny leftover swell and poor conditions. You'd be wasting your time.
Now, keep your eyes peeled for Wednesday the 15th. A big jump in size—8ft of southerly swell rolls in, with the energy going through the roof (1232). That’s a powerful, strong swell. However, it comes with a fresh cross-shore wind and a lot of lumpy cross-chop. This is for experienced surfers only; beginners should sit this one out. The afternoon gets worse with a cross-onshore wind. Thursday and Friday stay messy with decent size but ugly winds.
After a bit of a flat spell, things look promising again starting the following Sunday, the 19th of July. The morning will see clean 3ft easterly swell with a light offshore breeze from the NNW. It’s a fun, clean wave.
The real standout, though, is the following Monday, the 20th of July. Both morning and afternoon are looking excellent. We’re getting 4ft of solid east swell with a clean offshore wind all day. The energy is solid (359). This is the best on offer across the whole outlook—clean, consistent, and just the right size for intermediates. Crowds are possible here, so get in early.
Tuesday the 21st holds a similar 4ft east swell in the morning, but the wind goes cross-off, so it’s a bit less than perfect. Then Wednesday the 22nd also gives a shout-out: glassy conditions in the morning with 4ft from the south. That’s a rare treat; glass is always worth chasing.
After that, things taper off. By the 25th and 26th, we’re back to tiny, weak swells best left for a paddle.
So, to sum it up: Saturday the 11th is the early highlight for clean, fun waves. Monday the 20th is the real gem of the forecast—lock it in for some quality east swell with offshore wind. Everything else is either too big and messy, or too small.
Rusty out.
