Table - best surf conditions forecast for Mallorca - Malpas over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s on the cards for our local stretch over this 16-day run. Gotta be straight with you – it’s a tough outlook. We’re staring down a long, dry spell with barely a ripple worth paddling for. The first week and a half is essentially a write-off, with only the faintest hints of life late in the run.
Starting off, there’s nothing for Saturday the 11th or Sunday the 12th. We’re looking at tiny, weak swell and cross-off to cross-onshore breezes that just chop everything up. The energy is pathetic, measuring a measly 2 in the combined energy department. Water temp is sitting at 82°, which is a whopping 6° warmer than normal for this time of year – it’s like bathwater, but with zero surf to enjoy it.
The whole first week stays flat and messy. Monday the 13th through to Saturday the 18th is a total desert. Each morning and afternoon brings either no swell or ankle-biters with poor wind. Even the occasional glassy periods like Wednesday afternoon the 15th or Thursday morning the 16th offer zero waves with no energy to speak of. It’s a real bummer.
Then, after a long wait, we finally see a flicker on Sunday morning the 19th. Malpas (Mallorca - Malpas) shows a 4ft swell from the NNE with a period of 5 seconds and combined energy of 83. Conditions are glassy – that’s a major positive. But hold up, this is a spot that rarely breaks. It’s inconsistent as they come. And the swell is short period, so it won’t have much push or shape. It’s surfable, but very ordinary.
That afternoon on the 19th, the swell bumps up to 5ft from the NNE, with energy jumping to 244 – that’s moderate energy now. But the wind swings cross-on, ruining the clean glass we had in the morning. That setup is a bit of a tease, to be honest.
We then hit another gap. Monday the 20th through to Thursday the 24th is more of the same – tiny surf or poor winds. A standout actually pops up on Friday the 24th. By Friday afternoon, we get a 5ft NNE swell with a period of 7 seconds and combined energy of 280. That’s the best energy we’ve seen. But the wind is onshore from the NE at 9 mph, which will mess up the face. For a spot that rarely breaks, you’d want cleaner conditions to make the most of it. The morning of the 24th is a little better with a 4ft NE swell and light cross-offshore breeze, but the energy is only 76.
Beyond that, the final days slip back into flatness. Saturday the 25th and Sunday the 26th offer tiny swell and onshore or cross-shore winds. There’s just nothing to get excited about.
So, if I had to pick the best chance? It’s a toss-up between the glassy but weak morning of Sunday the 19th, and the stronger but wind-affected Friday afternoon the 24th. Neither is a true standout. For beginners, the swell never exceeds 5ft on the cleaner days, so it’s not too big. For experts, there’s nothing over 8ft that’s clean.
Honestly, with this stretch of weak energy and inconsistent waves, the setup looks more interesting for kite surfing on the windier afternoons than for a solid paddle session. Keep your eyes peeled, but don’t hold your breath.
Rusty.
