Table - best surf conditions forecast for La Nora over the next 16 days.

Alright, let’s talk La Nora. This is a beach and point setup that’s fairly consistent, but don’t get your hopes up just yet. The first ten days of the forecast are basically a write-off – poor surf, tiny waves, and cross-onshore junk. You’re looking at a long gap with nothing worth paddling out for until around Tuesday the 21st, and even then it’s just barely surfable. The real standout? That’s Saturday the 25th morning, and it’s the only one worth calling out.

Saturday the 11th through to Wednesday the 22nd? Save your energy. The swell is small, wind is messy, and the combined energy never gets above 220 (moderate) until later. Tuesday the 21st morning actually goes glassy with a calm wind, but the swell is only 4ft from the north with a short 7-second period, combined energy 163 – moderate but forgettable. It’s surfable but very ordinary. Not a session to write home about.

Then Thursday the 23rd morning brings a 5ft NNW swell with a 7-second period, combined energy 220, still moderate. Wind is light cross-onshore from the ENE at 5 mph, so it’s passable but nothing special. The crowd factor here is often, so expect company if you do go.

The real highlight comes Saturday the 25th morning. Swell jumps to 7ft from the NNW – that’s right in the optimum direction for this spot. Period stretches to 12 seconds, which is proper groundswell, and the combined energy hits 1284, strong. That’s a lot of push. Wind is light cross-onshore from the WNW at 6 mph, so it’s not glassy but still manageable. At 7ft, it’s too big for beginners, but intermediate surfers should find some punchy lines, especially on the point section where the longer period tends to hold up better. The afternoon fades a bit – 6ft, period 11s, energy 803, but wind picks up to a gentle cross-onshore at 9 mph. Still worth a look if you can’t make the morning.

Sunday the 26th morning drops to 4ft from the NW with a 10-second period, combined energy 322, and light cross-shore wind. Just marginal.

So, bottom line: the first ten days are a total bust. The only window that gets me excited is the morning of July 25th – that’s your best bet. It’s a proper winter swell, decent size, solid period, and the direction is spot on. Just keep an eye on the cross-onshore breeze; it’s not perfect but it’s the best you’ll get in this 16-day stretch. Watch for crowds – La Nora is often busy.

Rusty.
