Table - best surf conditions forecast for Kennack Sands over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. We’ve got a bit of a tough stretch ahead for Kennack Sands. Let’s be straight with you – the next couple of weeks are looking pretty grim for a proper paddle. The water is sitting at 66° which is much warmer than normal for this time of year, so at least you won’t be shivering while you’re staring at the flatness.
The story starts with a real thumping on Sunday the 12th. We’ve got a solid 8ft swell from the east with a short, weak 7-second period, but it’s completely wasted. A strong easterly breeze is blowing straight across it, making a mess of things. The swell energy is moderate at 542, but it’s all chop and no shape. That same pattern hangs around through Monday the 13th and Tuesday the 14th – the swell actually jumps to a chunky 12ft on Monday morning (1704 energy, strong to very strong), but we’ve got a near-gale wind onshore. That’s a kite surfer’s dream, not a surfer’s. Wednesday the 15th and Thursday the 16th drop right off, with tiny waves barely 3ft or less and weak energy. For a spot that’s already inconsistent, this is a blank run.
The only glimmer of hope comes later on Tuesday the 21st. The afternoon shows a little 5ft swell from the east, still short period at 6 seconds, but the wind finally swings to a light westerly, giving us a clean cross-off breeze. The energy is moderate at 250. It’s surfable, but very ordinary. Not a standout, just a “maybe get a couple of close-outs if you’re desperate.”
Basically, if you’re looking for a good wave, you’re looking at a long wait. The first real chance is that Tuesday the 21st, but it’s a long way off and the forecast is less certain. For a spot that’s often quiet, this dry spell is a bit more normal. Don’t hold your breath.
Rusty.
