Table - best surf conditions forecast for Kennack Sands over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s take a look at what’s on offer at Kennack Sands over the next couple of weeks.
Right off the bat, I’ve got to be straight with you – this stretch of coast is looking pretty dead for the entire 16-day window. Kennack Sands is a sheltered beginner spot that’s already inconsistent, and the swell just isn’t lining up. The optimum direction here is SSW, but we’re seeing constant east and east-northeast windswell, and the wind is mostly cross-onshore. That’s a recipe for messy, lumpy, and just plain poor surf. The water is running at 65°, which is a solid 5° warmer than usual for this time of year – that’s much warmer than normal, so maybe a nice dip but not for waves.
From Friday July 10 right through to Saturday July 25, the scores are all zeros and ones. There’s a tiny window on Thursday July 16 afternoon when the wind goes glassy and the wave height is 6 ft from the east with a period of 7 seconds. The energy there is moderate (combined energy 298). But the surf report says “surfable waves but very ordinary conditions” – honestly, that’s not enough to get me excited. On Friday July 17 morning we get a moderate offshore wind from the northwest and 3 ft east swell, period 7 seconds, energy 104 – still only rated a 1 out of 10. The rest of the time it’s cross-onshore, strong breezes, and messy conditions. The swell gets up to 12 ft on Monday July 13 but with a strong cross-onshore wind and period only 8 seconds – that’s just dangerous and ugly, not fun.
So to sum it up: there’s nothing worth paddling out for at Kennack Sands in this forecast. No standouts, no hidden gems. If you’re desperate for a float, maybe the glassy afternoon on the 16th could give you a few waist-high closeouts, but I wouldn’t drive for it. This spot is inconsistent anyway, so a blank run like this isn’t surprising. Keep an eye on the charts – things can change, but right now, save your wax.
