Right then, let’s have a look at what’s on offer for the next couple of weeks.
To be straight with you, it’s a pretty grim outlook for Kennack Sands. The whole 16-day window is a real struggle. From now, right through until the morning of Wednesday, July 15th, it’s either flat, tiny, or blown out by strong onshore winds. That’s over a full week of nothing worth paddling out for. The swell that does show up is mostly from the east, with a lot of energy being dumped into the bay, but the wind is just relentless, ruining any chance of clean surf. The combined swell energy gets up into the hundreds and even thousands (1432 on the 13th), but it’s all messy and unsurfable for a paddle board.
The only real standout, and I mean the only one, looks like the morning of Wednesday, July 15th. There’s still a solid 8ft swell running from the east, but the wind finally swings offshore to the west (6 mph), cleaning things up. The combined energy is still high (855), so there’ll be plenty of power. However, we’ve got a few issues. The swell is over 8ft, so this is strictly for experienced surfers. Also, Kennack is sheltered and inconsistent, and it’s a beach break, so a long period groundswell like this might break a bit too straight. The crowds are listed as “sometimes” so you might get it to yourself, but it’s not a certainty. The water temp is about average for the time of year, nothing unusual.
After that, it’s back to tiny, clean but weak waves for the rest of the week, with nothing really building. The 20th and 21st have a bit of size again, but the wind is cross-off and strong, making it messy. Honestly, for the whole 16 days, the Wednesday morning is the only window that’s even worth a look, and that’s a big call.
