Right then, let’s have a look at what’s on offer.
To be straight with you, this forecast is a tough one. For the next 16 days, there’s just nothing doing. The first recommendation, for what it’s worth, comes on the 4th of July, but it’s a flat 0.3 ft of south swell with a very long 16-second period. The energy is weak (10), and while the wind is offshore and clean, that’s only because there’s hardly a wave to mess up. It’s rated for beginners, but honestly, there’s nothing to learn on.
We get a bit of a bump around the 9th and 10th of July. Swell from the east pushes up to 3 ft on the 9th afternoon and 4 ft by the 10th morning, with the energy climbing into triple digits (60, then 132). That sounds promising, but look at the wind: onshore and lumpy, or direct onshore. The period drops to a short, choppy 5 to 6 seconds. That combo makes for poor surf quality—messy and blown out. Not worth the paddle.
After that, it dies right back down. From the 11th of July through to the 19th, we’re looking at tiny 0.3 ft to 2 ft swells from various directions, with weak energy. There are some glassy or clean windows, like the 13th morning with glassy conditions and a 2 ft east swell, or the 19th morning with flat calm and glassy water. But there’s just no power behind it. The combined energy of all swells directed here stays in the low double digits or single digits, and most of the time it’s marked as poor surf conditions.
So, to sum it up: it’s a 16-day blank period. For Kennack Sands, this kind of quiet run isn’t unusual—it’s a sheltered spot that needs a specific window. No standouts to speak of. We’re waiting on the next system. The water’s a touch warmer than normal at 63°, if that’s any comfort.
