Alright, Rusty here. Let's be straight with you. Jacks Hole is our only option on the table, and to be honest, it's a tough stretch ahead. We're looking at a solid run of poor surf conditions with no real standouts to speak of right through the 16-day window. The waves just aren't showing up with any meaningful height, and the energy is weak to non-existent for most of the period.
The water temp is sitting at 61°, a touch warmer than normal for this time of year, which is about all we have going for us.
Kicking off on Thursday the 2nd, we've got a tiny 0.7ft south swell with a short 5-second period. Combined energy is a measly (2). It's clean with light east winds, but honestly, it's barely a ripple. Friday the 3rd is a flat morning, and the afternoon only manages 1ft of short-period slop from the south with a cross-off wind. The energy is still pitiful (3). The weekend doesn't offer any relief. Saturday the 4th has clean, offshore winds from the west, but the swell is a pathetic 0.7ft (1). Sunday the 5th sees a weird, tiny 0.3ft pulse with a very long 15-second period (4), which would be interesting elsewhere, but here it's just not enough.
The entire first week is a washout. We go through Monday the 6th, Tuesday the 7th, Wednesday the 8th, and Thursday the 9th with no waves or absolute knee-high dribble. The combined swell energy never cracks double digits. Most days see either flat surf or 0.3ft to 0.7ft. There's a brief moment on Thursday the 16th morning when it goes glassy with a tiny 1ft north-northwest pulse, but the energy is still only (13) and the period is short at 4 seconds. It's clean but tiny.
Even the second week doesn't get the heart pumping. A few pulses of 1ft and 2ft show up around the 11th and 12th, but they're coming from the north-northeast with puny 3 to 4-second periods. The winds are mostly cross or onshore, not doing any favors. On Tuesday the 14th, we get a very long 18-second period south groundswell, but it's only 0.3ft, so it's all show and no go.
Honestly, for this stretch, if you absolutely have to get wet, you're looking at a flat, clean lake most days. With the swell this small and the quality consistently ranked poor, this setup is far more interesting for a kite surfer with a light wind foil than for a paddle surfer. There's just no swell to work with.
Rusty.
