Table - best surf conditions forecast for Jacks Hole over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at the outlook for Jacks Hole over the next couple of weeks. Straight up, I gotta be honest with you – it’s looking real quiet. There’s nothing to get excited about for the entire 16-day forecast. Out of every single window, not one is worth paddling out for.
The water temp is running around 62°, which is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year – so at least you won’t be freezing if you’re just standing on the beach.
We start off on Thursday the 9th of July and straight away it’s a no-go. Poor surf conditions with barely a bump. The combined swell energy is flat at 0, and what little shows up is a weak 0.3 ft from the south with a 12-second period – but it's cross-on wind, so it’s messy. That sets the tone for the whole run.
Friday the 10th through the weekend and into the following week is the same story. The swell barely lifts above 4 ft at its best on Monday the 13th afternoon, but even then the period is a pathetic 5 seconds – just wind chop. The wind is cross or cross-on, and the combined wave energy tops out at a mediocre 94, which is still weak. The surf is consistently described as poor. No way around it: this is a flat spell.
We get a little switch around Friday the 17th and Saturday the 18th with some clean conditions thanks to a light cross-off breeze from the NNW, but the swell drops to 2 ft or less. There is some longer period energy from the south around 12 seconds, but the combined energy is 24 or lower – just not enough push. It’s a clean, glassy-looking ocean, but it’s a lake.
From the 19th right through to the end on Thursday the 24th of July, we’re looking at flat to near-flat conditions. The biggest reading in that stretch is 2 ft from the north-east on the 20th afternoon, but again, it’s short period and cross-on. The last few days show tiny 0.3 ft south swells with long periods up to 16 seconds, but with combined energies in the single digits, it’s not going to break. Clean skies and light winds won’t save you when there’s no water moving.
So, bottom line: no standout days, no hidden gem windows. It’s a full 16-day gap with no surf worth mentioning. Don’t bother waxing up – maybe go for a fish or just enjoy the beach. Forecasts can change, but right now, it’s a hard pass.
Rusty.
