Table - best surf conditions forecast for Fernandina Beach Pier over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s doing for the next couple of weeks.
Right off the bat, it’s pretty flat and quiet around here. We’re looking at a long stretch, starting July 11th, with nothing but poor, tiny surf. There’s a 7-day gap before anything even registers as surfable, so it’s a case of checking the tide and leaving the board at home.
The first suggestion of anything that’s not a total write-off doesn’t crop up until Tuesday the 14th afternoon. Fernandina Beach Pier is the only break in the picture. The morning of the 14th is still small and clean but tiny, 1ft from the ESE. By the afternoon, we’ve got a little bump to 2ft from the same ESE, with a light offshore breeze making it look clean. The combined swell energy is weak at 89, so it’s not going to be much, but the conditions are good.
Wednesday the 15th morning is a non-event again. The afternoon brings a real highlight though – glassy conditions and 2ft from the ESE. That flat water and slight air means it’s about as clean as you’ll see. Again, small, but it’s the best-looking window we’ve got.
From Thursday the 16th onward, it’s back to tiny, poor conditions with the combined energy dropping into the teens and low twenties. The swell direction wanders from ESE to NE and back, but the wave heights barely hit 2ft and usually sit around 0.7ft to 1ft. The winds are sometimes offshore or cross-off, keeping it clean for a paddle, but there’s just no energy to work with. By Sunday the 26th, there’s a whisper of something – 2ft from the SE with a clean cross-off wind, but the combined energy is still only 36.
The water temperature is about average for this time of year.
If you’re desperate for a surf, the afternoon of Wednesday the 15th is your best shot. It’s small but glassy and clean. That’s the standout in an otherwise flat run. For a beach/pier setup, you need a bit more push than this. This stretch is looking more like a long weekend off.
Rusty.
