Table - best surf conditions forecast for Fernandina Beach Pier over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s be straight with you – the next couple of weeks at Fernandina Beach Pier are looking pretty flat and quiet. We’ve got a long stretch of tiny, weak swell and mostly onshore or cross-onshore winds, so don’t get your hopes up too high. The water is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year at 85°, so at least a paddle won’t be a shock to the system.
Right now, the surf is basically non-existent. Friday afternoon we’ve got a weak 4ft SE swell, but it’s short period at 5 seconds and cross-on winds are making it choppy and messy. The combined energy is only 62, so it’s weak. Not worth paddling out for.
Saturday morning the 11th sees a little window of clean conditions – offshore wind from the west, glassy surface – but the swell drops to just 2ft. That’s a knee-high dribbler. The afternoon gets worse: cross-on wind and choppy.
Sunday, Monday, Tuesday… it’s the same story. Tiny swell, mostly 1ft to 2ft. The odd morning might have a light offshore breeze, giving you a clean surface, but there’s just no push. The energy levels are all in the 30s or 40s – weak stuff.
We do get a bit of a bump on Friday the 24th afternoon. The swell picks up to 3ft from the SE, period still short at 6 seconds, but the combined energy jumps to 115 – that’s moderate. The wind is onshore though, so it’s not going to be pretty. Still, it’s the most size we’ve seen in a while.
By Saturday the 25th afternoon, we finally get a surfable but ordinary session. Swell is 3ft from the SE, 5 second period, with a cross-off wind from the south giving us cleanish waves. Combined energy is 65. It’s rideable, but don’t expect any barrels. The crowd can be around sometimes, but honestly, with waves this small, it’ll be quiet.
Overall, there’s no standout session in this 16-day window. The best you’ll get is Saturday the 25th afternoon if you’re desperate for a push. The rest of the time, it’s a lake out there. Forecasts can change though, so keep an eye on it.
Rusty.
