The Lowdown
Okay, first and only real option is Windmills, an advanced reef setup. The whole 16-day forecast is a bit of a struggle. The one window to watch is Wednesday, July 29th. Expect head-high to overhead surf around 8ft from the NE, with very strong energy (1040). The wind is the big draw – a light cross-off in the morning turning glassy offshore in the afternoon. That’s about as clean as it gets.
The break is fairly consistent but often packed, so expect company. The water temp is a crazy warm 80°F, well above the norm. From early on (July 24th) through to the 28th, it’s all messy cross-shore junk. After Wednesday it sinks back into poor conditions with lumpy wind. For the vast majority of this period the setup looks more suited to a kite than a surfboard. By August 7th the swell drops to 2ft with weak energy (97), so that’s as tiny as it gets.
