Table - best surf conditions forecast for Ka'anapali Point over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let me give you the rundown for the local surf scene.
Overall, it’s a tough stretch ahead. We’ve got a solid 16-day window but the surf is struggling to get going for most of it. The opening days offer nothing rideable, so don’t bother paddling out on Sunday or Monday. The beginning of the week is a total write-off, and there’s a big gap of poor conditions. Even when we see a slight bump in size, the direction is all wrong or the winds are no good. There’s a slim chance around Wednesday the 15th if you’re desperate.
The only real standout, and I mean the *only* one that gets a nod, is Wednesday morning, July 15th. Ka'anapali Point is a beginner-friendly reef setup, and it’s fairly exposed to the swell we have. We’re looking at a clean 2 ft swell coming from the WNW with a period of 15 seconds – that’s some proper long-period groundswell energy (285). The winds will be a light, cross-off breeze from the ENE. The water is about average for this time of year.
Now, a word on that 15-second period: it’s a long-period swell, which means better shaped waves but longer lulls between sets. At a reef break like Ka'anapali Point, that’s a good thing. The crowd factor is “often” here, so don’t be surprised to see others out. But for a beginner spot, it’s about as good as it gets this week. After that, it’s back to flatness or junk.
Looking into the second week, things don’t improve. Thursday the 23rd shows a bit of a pulse of long-period SSW swell but with 2 ft it’s barely breaking. Those ENE trade winds stay stiff, keeping things messy. By Saturday the 25th, a weak 4 ft NE windswell pops up with a short 7-second period, which is just a bump of energy (108) and not worth the paddle. The rest of the way? Nothing but flat, clean, and sad.
The truth is, for the next two weeks, we’re in a drought. The surf might not stay this poor forever, but right now, it’s a waiting game.
Stay patient,
Rusty
