Alright, Rusty here. Let's have a look.
I gotta be straight with you, this is a tough stretch for Windmills. We're looking at a full 16-day window starting now, and there’s nothing that gets the nod. That's a massive gap with no recommendations, so don't hold your breath for any kind of decent session.
The water temp is sitting at 80° with an anomaly of 1°, so that's pretty average for the time of year. Nothing special there.
The swell just doesn't show up in a way that works. Most of the time we've got short-period, weak-chopped NE swell running from 4ft to 6ft, but with a constant cross-shore wind from the ENE cranking at 16 to 22 mph, it's just a lumpy, poor surf condition. The combined energy is moderate, hitting values around 209 to 397, but that doesn't matter when the wind is messing it up. You'll be looking at a cross-chop all day.
There is a little blip around July 15th and 16th where a very long-period WNW groundswell shows up with periods of 15 and 16 seconds, but the height is only 2ft to 2ft. The combined energy is still moderate at 345 and 325, but with the same ENE cross-wind, it'll be bumpy and weak. Not worth the paddle.
A few mornings around July 17th have a 5ft ENE swell with an 8-second period, but again, that cross-shore wind just kills it. Even the longer-period groundswell on the 19th is barely there, with heights of 1.0ft and combined energy so weak (31-33) it's basically flat.
You could argue that with the persistent swell and wind, this setup might be more interesting for kite surfing than paddle surfing, but for a clean wave on a surfboard, it's a total write-off. Keep your board in the car, but don't bother waxing up at Windmills for a good while.
Rusty.
