Table - best surf conditions forecast for Windmills over the next 16 days.
Alright, let’s break this down, mate.
Right now, it’s flat out depressing. There is nothing happening at Windmills for a long time. We’re talking a massive gap with no decent surf on offer from Sunday the 12th all the way through. The trade winds are just hammering it from the ENE side-shore, making everything a lumpy, cross-chop mess. Water temp is 79°, which is pretty much normal for this time of year, but that doesn't help when there’s nothing to ride. It’s just a long, frustrating wait.
The first real sign of life pops up on Monday, 27 July. That morning is the one to circle on your calendar. The swell hits 5 ft from the NE, and for the first time in ages, the energy kicks up to a moderate 618. The period is a little better at 8 seconds, and while the wind is still side-shore from the NE, it drops to a moderate breeze. That’s the best wind we see in this whole forecast.
So the standout is Windmills on the morning of Monday, 27 July. It’s a reef break, so it can handle the swell okay, but the perfect direction would be from the NNW. We’re getting NE, but beggars can’t be choosers. The waves will be around 5 ft from the NE, which is manageable if you know what you’re doing, but this is an advanced spot, so respect it. Crowds are often there, so you won’t be alone. It’s a long way out, so keep your fingers crossed the forecast holds.
Honestly, the rest of the two weeks is a total drought. Every single entry is rated as poor surf conditions. The energy is weak, the wind is trash, and there’s just no reason to get excited. It’s a rough stretch for the area.
Rusty.
