G’day, Rusty here, and I gotta be straight with you—this outlook for Titanzinho is a tough one. We’re looking at a solid 16-day run, but honestly, it’s a bit of a grind for paddle surfing.
Right now, starting from Thursday, 9th July, there’s no surf worth jumping in for. Through Friday, Saturday, and Sunday the swell hangs around 4 ft to 5 ft from the east, with a short, weak period of just 6 to 7 seconds. The combined wave energy is moderate, hitting the 150–249 mark, but the wind’s all wrong—cross-shore or cross-off from the ESE or SE at 25 km/h. It’s keeping things messy or at best just clean but short and weak. The water’s sitting at 82°, which is about average for this time of year. Nothing to get excited about.
The pattern doesn’t let up. From Monday, 13th July through to Thursday, 16th July, it’s more of the same: 3 ft to 5 ft of weak, short-period E/ENE swell, energy dipping as low as 120, and the wind remains a cross-shore breeze. The comments all say “poor surf conditions” with scores of zero.
Come Friday, 17th July, the energy drops further to just 94 and 91—weak stuff. Still not worth paddling out.
The closest thing to a standout comes on Saturday and Sunday, 18th and 19th July, when the swell pushes up to 5 ft from the east, period still short at 7 seconds, but energy climbs to 208 and 212. The mornings have a clean cross-off wind from the SSE or SE at 25 km/h. Even then, this is still marginal—better for a longboard or a funboard if you’re desperate, but not what I’d call quality.
Then we roll into Monday, 20th July through to Friday, 24th July. The swell stays 4 ft to 5 ft, period is 6–7 seconds, and energy sits in the moderate range, peaking at 263 on Tuesday, 21st July. The mornings clean up with cross-off winds from the SE, but it’s still a short-period east swell on a reef break that’s exposed. For an intermediate, it’s doable, but the short period means waves are crumbly and closeout-prone.
Honestly, there’s no true standout here. The best on offer are the mornings of the 18th, 19th, 21st, and 22nd July when the swell hits 5 ft and the wind is clean—but it’s still a short, weak east swell. For a reef break like Titanzinho, you want longer-period groundswell for proper shape, and we just don’t have it.
If you’re a kite surfer, that cross-shore wind and punchy, short-period chop might actually be more fun than paddling out. For surfers, this is a long, flat-feeling stretch. Keep an eye on the charts—it tends not to stay poor forever.
Rusty.
