Table - best surf conditions forecast for Te Ikaamaru Bay over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what Te Ikaamaru Bay has in store for us over the next couple of weeks. I gotta be straight with you, it's a tough stretch.
Right now, and for the next 16 days, there just isn't any decent surf to get excited about. The swell window is pretty much asleep, and even when a little pulse tries to show, the wind is usually howling from the wrong direction. We’re looking at a long, flat gap here. You’ll see a few very small waves pop up on the morning of July 13th, but with a strong onshore wind from the NNW at 25 mph, it’s all just messy windswell. Not worth paddling out for.
The only time we get something that might look okay is on Thursday, July 16th. The wind turns light offshore from the SSE at 9 mph in the afternoon, and the water will be glassy clean. But even then, the swell is tiny, only 1 ft from the NNW with a short 6-second period. The combined energy is next to nothing (7). It’s a beginner spot anyway, so if you’re just learning to pop up, you might get a few knee-high dribblers. But for anyone wanting a real wave, it’s a pass.
The rest of the period is a write-off. Strong winds, onshore, and no swell to speak of. There’s a few days with clean offshore winds around the 18th and 20th of July, but with no swell at all, it’s just flat. The water temp is sitting around 55°F with no big anomaly, so pretty average for this time of year.
Bottom line: there are zero standout days. This place just isn’t firing. It’s one of those blank runs that happens sometimes around here. Best to find something else to do or just keep an eye on the charts—it never stays this flat forever.
Stay salty,
Rusty
