Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright, this is Rusty. Let's get into it.
This stretch of the Tableview (sandbar) forecast is a bit of a rollercoaster, and there's a huge gap right off the bat if you're hoping for great waves. Honestly, the opening days are for the experienced crew only, and things drop off pretty hard for a while.
The Overall Pattern and the Opening Acts
We've got a solid SW groundswell starting things out. The combined swell energy is pumping hard, hitting a massive 2775 (moderate to strong energy) by Thursday the 9th. But here's the kicker – the swell is way too big for this break for the first few days. The water's a bit colder than normal at 57°F, which is notable for the time of year.
Tuesday, July 7th morning kicks off with a 6ft SW swell at a nice 12-second period. The wind is glassy from the N at 3 mph. This is clean, but at that size, it's really just for experts. By afternoon, the swell jumps to 7ft and the wind goes cross-on from the WSW. Still too big for a pleasant paddle.
Wednesday, July 8th is similar – the morning is glassy and clean, but the swell is at 7ft, making it an expert-only zone. The energy is sky-high (2307). The afternoon gets a bit sloppy with cross-shore wind.
Thursday, July 9th is the last of this big, clean swell before things quiet down. The water temp anomaly here applies to the whole outlook: it's running 3°F colder than average. The swell peaks at 8ft with a 14-second period, and we have clean, cross-off winds from the SSE at 12 mph. The energy is at 2775. Again, this is *excellent* for experienced surfers only.
The Dead Zone and a Weekend Window
Then we hit the doldrums. From Friday, July 10th through Monday, July 13th morning, there's almost nothing worthwhile. The swell drops from 10ft down to 3ft, and the energy plummets into the low hundreds. There's a brief flash on Sunday, July 12th morning with a 5ft SSW swell, clean winds, and decent energy (613), but it's quickly gone. After that, it's just poor to marginal conditions for the rest of the week. This is a solid 5-day gap with no real recommendations.
Late Period Hope: The Weekend Return
The forecast gets interesting again around Thursday, July 16th but... it's too big again. A 8ft WSW swell with cross-on wind. Not great.
The True Standouts of the Outlook
Now, if you can wait, there are two real standouts worth circling on your calendar, but they're a week and a half out.
1. Sunday, July 19th Morning – This is one of the best bets. The wind is glassy from the NW at 3 mph. There's a powerful, long-period 6ft groundswell from the WSW with a 14-second period. The combined energy is massive at 2332. This is "excellent surf conditions for experienced surfers" – clean and powerful. The sandbar setup means those long-period waves could be a bit tricky, but with glassy conditions, it'll be a great session for the crew who knows the bank.
2. Monday morning, July 20th – A very close second. Clean cross-off breeze from the NNE at 6 mph, with a 7ft WSW swell (energy at 1285). It's still big, but with those offshore winds, it should be really well-shaped.
The Last Hurrah
Sunday, July 21st morning offers a smaller, cleaner window for intermediate surfers: a 4ft glassy wave, but the period drops to a short 9 seconds, so it won't have the same punch.
So, to sum it up: the next week is a write-off for the casual surfer. The beginning is for experts only, and then it flat-lines. Promise is on the horizon for the weekend of the 19th and 20th, but it's a long-range call, so keep an eye on it.
This is Rusty, signing off.
