Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Hey folks, Rusty here. Let's take a look at what Sandy Mouth is cooking up. I'll be straight with you, it's a pretty lackluster outlook for the next couple of weeks.
We're looking at a lot of small, weak swell, and some periods where it's basically flat. The best we can rustle up is a slight uptick in size mid-week, but it's nothing special. The water temp is about 63°, which is a touch warmer than average for this time of year, so you might get away without the thickest suit.
The only time you might want to paddle out is on Wednesday morning, July 8th. We'll have a tiny 2ft swell from the west, but the wind is glassy. That means it'll be mirror-flat clean, and the combined swell energy is weak (64). It's surfable, but very small and unremarkable. Your best bet is probably Friday morning, July 10th. The swell picks up a hair to 3ft from the west, and we've got glassy conditions again. It's only 3ft, but that clean, smooth surface will make it fun for a log or a longboard. The combined energy is still a weak (104).
Saturday morning, July 11th, the wind goes offshore from the ENE at 12 mph, but the swell drops back to 2ft. It's clean, but a bit too small to be worthwhile. From Sunday, July 12th through the rest of the forecast, it's a no-go. We see some big swell periods, like 21 seconds on the 12th, but with a swell height of only 0.3ft, it's just a flat ocean. A few days have strong offshore winds, but without any swell to work with, they just make for a clean, flat lake.
For this area, a dry spell like this isn't out of the ordinary. The forecasts can shift, but right now, there's nothing on the map that gets my heart pumping besides those glassy, tiny days.
