The Lowdown
Alright, grab your board, let's have a look at what's coming up. This is a tough one, I'm not gonna lie. The forecast for the next couple of weeks is mostly a story of small, weak swell and tricky winds. There's no real swell train to get excited about, just a few windows of cleaner conditions where the small stuff might be worth a paddle.
We start off on Saturday, 5th September, and it's a bit of a letdown. The surf is tiny, around 3ft, with a weak, short-period ENE swell. The wind is a S 9 mph cross-off, so it's clean, but the wave energy is low (101). It's a knee-high, onshore look. The water temperature is 68°, which is about 2 degrees warmer than average for this time of year, so it's a bit balmy.
Sunday the 6th doesn't get any better. The swell drops, and the afternoon gets messy with a strong onshore breeze.
The first real glimmer comes on Tuesday morning, 8th September. We see a jump in size to 4ft from the ENE, but with a short period of 6 seconds. The wind is light offshore from the W at 3 mph, so the surface will be clean. The wave energy is moderate (180). This is the first decent chance for a surf, but the short period means it won't be the most powerful wave.
The best session of the whole forecast looks like Wednesday morning, 9th September. The swell holds at 5ft from the E, with a moderate wave energy (251). The wind is a light WNW 6 mph cross-off, making for clean conditions. This is the standout. The waves will be a bit weak due to the short period, but it's the best combo of size and wind we see. This is the one to mark on the calendar.
After that, we get a long, dry spell. The surf drops right off and the winds get messy. For days on end, it's just tiny, weak waves and onshore wind. There's a pocket of hope on the morning of Tuesday, 15th September, with a clean 1.0ft from the WNW cross-off, but it's barely a ripple.
The next notable event is on Tuesday afternoon, 15th September. The swell jumps to 4ft from the ESE with a much better period of 10 seconds, and the wave energy is strong (351). But the wind is a 12 mph SE cross-on, which will chop it up. It's a frustrating tease.
The last week is a repeat of the same story: small, weak swells and poor wind. The final day of the forecast, Sunday, 20th September, has a 3ft ENE swell with a moderate energy (106) and a clean cross-off wind from the SW, but it's still a small, weak wave.
Honestly, if you're keen, the only real standout is that Wednesday morning, 9th September. Get out there early before the wind turns. The rest of the window is a whole lot of nothing.
