The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s look ahead at what Pointe d'Imessouane has lined up for us over the next couple of weeks.
The first proper surf window hits Monday the 17th of August. It kicks off with a clean, glassy morning, and that’s really your standout moment in the first week. We’re looking at a solid 4ft swell from the NNW with moderate wave energy (228), and with the wind dead glass, it’ll be pristine out there. Perfect for an intermediate surfer to have a ball. Water temp is about average for this time of year.
After that Monday morning, things get a bit average. We go into a bit of a flat spell through Thursday, with swell dropping under 3ft and a persistent cross-shore wind messing things up. The wind doesn't play nice for days, and conditions stay pretty ordinary.
We get a little spike in size on the morning of Tuesday 25th of August – 6ft from the NNW and glassy again. That’s a decent wave, moderate to strong energy (396), and it'll be clean. Definitely worth a look for a Tuesday morning session.
Then Wednesday 26th August morning is another standout for the first half of the outlook. A 7ft NNW swell with strong energy (575) and clean conditions thanks to a cross-offshore breeze. The waves will have some punch but it’s starting to get into intermediate to advanced territory.
From the 27th onwards through the end of the month, the swell hangs around in the 5ft to 8ft range, but the wind is mostly cross-shore or onshore, so it's messy. The water gets a bit bumpy and inconsistent for clean surfing.
Now, here's the real gold. If you can wait, Monday 31st of August and Tuesday 1st of September are the sessions to circle on the calendar. The morning of the 31st sees a 7ft swell from the NNW with a long, juicy 10-second period and very strong energy (1300). Wind turns light offshore from the east, making it an absolute dream for experienced surfers. That’s the real standout. Tuesday 1st September follows it up with a similar 10ft swell and clean conditions, but that’s a fair way off so treat it as promising but not locked in. It’s a point break, and a long-period swell like that will wrap in beautifully.
So in short: the best windows are Monday 17th morning, Tuesday 25th morning, Wednesday 26th morning, and then the absolute peak looks like Monday 31st for experienced crew. The rest of the period is ordinary or blown out.
