The Lowdown
Alright crew, Rusty here checking in on Pantin.
Right now, things are a bit messy. There’s a NW swell running, but the breeze is mostly cross-on, kicking up a little chop. The wave energy is moderate (449), but conditions are just marginal. The water is a shocker – sitting at 60°F, which is about 7° colder than normal for this time of year. You’ll be needing a thick suit.
The swell builds through Friday, hitting 6ft, but the cross-on wind continues to mess with the shape. The period is around 10 seconds, so there’s some push, but it’s not clean.
Saturday morning is a bright spot. The wind swings east at 25 km/h, giving us a clean cross-off breeze. The swell drops to 3ft, so it’s small, and the energy is weak (173), but the clean conditions mean you can make the most of it.
Now, the real standout is a week from Thursday, on the 27th of August. The morning session is the one. We’ve got a serious WNW swell at 10ft, a 9-second period, and a cross-off wind from the SSW at 35 km/h. The combined energy is a massive 1403, so there’s a ton of power. That’s a wave for experts only – 10ft is heavy. If you’re not solid, stay on the sand.
The 31st of August also looks good. That’s a NW groundswell with a 12-second period, hitting 8ft, and the morning has a light cross-off breeze. The long period means it’ll be a proper, lined-up wave. Pantin can get crowded (“often”), so expect a crew.
The first week of September quiets down. The 2nd has a clean morning with 5ft swell and light wind, but the energy is weak. It’s a fun, small morning.
The big call is the 27th for the big dogs, and the 31st as a solid backup. Everything else is a mix of small clean days and wind-affected slop.
Rusty.
