Table - best surf conditions forecast for Pantin over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s happening in the water over the next couple of weeks.
To be honest, it’s a pretty flat and frustrating stretch ahead. The first week or so is looking like a write-off for any decent surf. We’ve got tiny, weak waves and onshore or cross-shore winds messing things up most days. You’ll be waiting a long time for anything worthwhile. The standout window, if you can call it that, is right at the very end of the forecast period, around the 28th of July. That’s over a week and a half away, so keep your expectations in check.
The best bet on offer is Pantin on the morning of Monday, 21st July. There’s a pulse of swell from the NNE at 5ft, and the wind is glassy clean with a light offshore from the ENE. The water temp is 61°, which is a bit colder than normal for this time of year, so you’ll want a decent wetsuit. The combined energy is moderate (190), so there’s a bit of push behind it. The only problem is the swell period is a short 7 seconds, so it’ll be a bit weak and bumpy – not the best shape, but it’s the only window with clean conditions and a bit of size. Crowds are often a thing here, so expect company.
The afternoon of that same day, the 21st, sees a bigger bump to 7ft from the NE with strong energy (368), but the wind cranks up to 25 mph. Even though it’s offshore, that’s a fresh breeze, and the period is still short at 7 seconds. It’ll be a choppy, messy mess. Unless you’re a kite surfer, give it a miss.
Beyond that, the 22nd has similar issues: clean winds but the swell is short-period and messy. The 28th of July morning shows a pulse from the WNW at 3ft with a longer 10-second period and moderate energy (244), but that’s a full week away and the wind is a moderate cross-shore, so it’ll have a chop.
Honestly, for the first week and a half, there’s nothing to get excited about. The forecast can change, but right now, it’s a waiting game for a real swell. The 21st morning is your only real shot for a clean, fun session, but it’s not a classic.
Rusty.
