Table - best surf conditions forecast for Pantin over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s see what’s cooking at Pantin for the next couple of weeks. Gotta be honest, it’s a slow starter. There’s a long gap of tiny, poor conditions, so don’t rush to get the wetsuit on just yet.
The first time you’ll even consider a paddle is Monday morning, July 13th. Swell’s small – only about 3ft out of the NNE, and the period is short at 8 seconds, so no real punch behind it (combined energy 144). But here’s the good part: glassy conditions, zero wind, the surface will be clean as a whistle. It’s still pretty ordinary though. Crowds could be a problem at Pantin – it often gets busy. The water temperature is about 61°, which is a bit colder than normal for this time of year – a couple degrees below average, so you’ll feel it.
Tuesday morning the 14th is almost the same story – glassy, 2ft from the NNE, 9-second period, still weak (combined energy 121). If you’re jonesing, that’s another window, but nothing to write home about.
After that, it just fades into tiny surf with choppy, messy conditions. Thursday the 16th is glassy again, but the swell is barely over 1ft – hardly worth it.
Then around Monday, July 20th, things change. Swell jumps to 4-5ft from the NNE, but the period is really short – only 5-6 seconds (combined energy 247). The wind is a strong cross-offshore at 28 mph, which means the surface is clean. But with that size and short period on a beach, this is way more suited for kite surfing than paddle surfing.
Tuesday the 21st morning pushes even bigger – around 7ft from the NNE, still short period around 7 seconds (combined energy 411) and clean cross-offshore wind. That’s big, expert-only territory, and dumpy, but if you’ve got the skills and a lot of patience, there’s something there.
Later in the week, the swell direction swings to the NW, but the winds get messy – onshore or cross-shore, so quality drops. Thursday the 24th has some size, around 5ft in the morning from the NW (combined energy 380), but it’s short period and cross-shore wind, so still not prime.
If I had to pick the best of a weak bunch: Monday the 13th morning for the clean glass, and maybe Tuesday the 21st if you’re a real expert and want to wrestle some hefty, short-period waves. Otherwise, leave the board in the car.
Rusty.
