Alright, Rusty here again, doing the conversion for the non-metric crew. Look, this 16-day stretch at Pantin is a rough one—plenty of wind, not much quality. Water temp is about 64°, just slightly above the July average.
Saturday the 4th and Sunday the 5th are absolute write-offs. Winds howling 22-25 mph from the ENE, cross-off, and the swell is pathetic—just 2 to 3 feet with no shape.
Monday morning the 6th offers the first real breather: glassy conditions with a 5 mph WNW wind. Swell is a tiny 1 ft, weak energy, but the surface is clean. You can catch a little ripple on a longboard.
Tuesday the 7th and Wednesday the 8th are back to light onshore junk. Not worth suiting up.
Thursday the 9th and Friday the 10th mornings are your best shots. Glassy northwest wind, 5 mph, with 3 ft of swell, period 9 seconds. The energy is still low, but the ocean is smooth. It’s small, but it’s clean. Both afternoons go onshore and it’s done.
Saturday the 11th sees the swell jump to 4-6 ft, but it’s short-period and the cross-onshore wind is 9-12 mph. Choppy and messy.
Sunday the 12th through Tuesday the 14th brings 5-7 ft of bumpy, short-period NNE swell with cross-shore winds of 12-16 mph. It’s more of a kite session than a surf session. The energy is in the moderate to strong range (627 by Sunday morning), but the quality is poor.
The final days, Thursday the 17th through Sunday the 19th, drop back to 3-3 ft with persistent cross-shore or onshore winds. Nothing special.
So, highlight wise: the glassy windows on the 6th, 9th, and 10th mornings are your only clean surf. Everything else is blown out or lumpy. Not a classic run.
Rusty.
