Table - best surf conditions forecast for Pantin over the next 16 days.
Alright, let’s get into it. The next couple of weeks at Pantin are a mixed bag, but there’s one standout window that’s worth keeping an eye on. The forecast starts off pretty lacklustre, with the first real recommendation not showing up until Monday morning, July 13th. There’s a gap of a few days before that, so don’t expect much right now.
Pantin (Spain) – The water temp is sitting at 62°, which is a bit colder than normal for this time of year, so you’ll want a decent wetsuit.
July 13th, Monday morning kicks things off with a glassy, clean session. The swell is only 3 ft from the north, with an 8-second period, so it’s small and a bit weak – combined energy is just 157 (moderate). Still, with zero wind and clear skies, it’ll be super clean. Not a standout, but a nice little window for a paddle.
Monday afternoon, the wind shifts to a light NE cross-off, keeping it clean. Swell drops slightly to 3 ft from the NNE, period stretches to 9 seconds. Combined energy drops to 128. Still surfable, but nothing special.
Tuesday morning, July 14th, we get another glassy spell – NE wind at just 3 mph, swell 2 ft from the NNE, 9-second period. Energy is 122. Small, but glassy conditions mean you can still have fun on a log.
The rest of the week into the weekend is pretty poor. Winds go onshore or cross-on, swell stays small or messy, and there’s a lot of chop. From Wednesday afternoon through to the end of the week, the combined energy stays below 100 for many sessions, and the quality’s just not there.
Now, the one that catches the eye is Thursday, July 23rd. This is the standout. Swell pumps up to 10 ft from the NNW with a 12-second period – that’s proper groundswell energy. Combined energy is a massive 2263 (very strong wave energy). BUT – and it’s a big but – the wind is a strong cross-shore at 19 mph from the NE, and the model says it’s too big for this break. This is only for experienced surfers who know Pantin well. The swell direction (NNW) matches the optimum swell direction for the break (NW), so it’s hitting it right. But with those winds, it’s going to be lumpy and challenging. If you’re an expert and you can handle heavy, cross-choppy conditions, this could be a session to remember. For everyone else, it’s a pass.
The morning of July 23rd also has a big 8 ft NNW swell at 12 seconds, with 2013 combined energy, but with similar cross-winds. Again, expert territory.
After that, things drop back down. July 24th has a 7 ft NNE swell in the morning, but it’s cross-shore and messy. The rest of the window into late July is small or poor quality.
Overall, the best wave quality for the average surfer is the small, glassy Monday morning on July 13th. For the big-wave crew, the 23rd is the one to circle – but only if you’re ready for strong, lumpy, powerful surf.
Rusty.
