The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Gotta be straight with you – the next couple of weeks are looking pretty grim for Pantin, with only a single, distant window of hope. For the most part, you’re looking at a whole lot of flat, weak, and choppy conditions. The wait is on.
Right off the bat, Tuesday 14 July gives us a little tease. We’ve got a tiny 3ft swell from the NNE, period around 9 seconds, with glassy conditions in the morning. The combined energy is weak at 140. It’s surfable, but honestly, it’s pretty ordinary. From there, it’s a long, dry spell. From Wednesday 15 July all the way through to Saturday 25 July, the recommendations are just not there. Days and days of tiny, weak swell with poor, often cross-onshore winds. The swell heights mostly stay below 2ft, and the energy readings are pathetic – often in the 20s and 30s. You’ll see some decent-sized windswell pop up around the 20th and 21st, with swell heights hitting 7ft and energy climbing into the 440s, but it’s coming from the NE with a short, lumpy 7-second period. Those conditions are more suited for kites than paddles; the beach setup will be a mess.
There is one ray of light, but you’ll have to be patient. On Wednesday 29 July, very early in the morning, the stars finally align. We’re looking at a clean, glassy morning with a 4ft swell from the WNW, a period of 9 seconds, and a combined energy of 323. That’s moderate energy and with the glassy wind, it’ll be clean. That’s the standout, but it’s a long-range call so don’t book your flights just yet. The morning of the 29th is your best bet, and probably your only bet, in this whole window.
Stay patient, check the forecasts closer to the time.
Rusty.
