Table - best surf conditions forecast for North Torrey Pines over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s coming up for North Torrey Pines.
To be straight with you, the next week and a half is a bit of a grind. We’ve got a long stretch of small, weak surf with a lot of onshore and cross-onshore wind. The combined swell energy is mostly in the low to mid hundreds, which is weak. Waves are hanging around 1ft to 2ft for days, and the wind is just messy enough to keep things choppy. It’s not looking like a great time to paddle out, honestly. There’s a gap of several days with no real recommendations, just marginal surf at best.
The first real standout comes later, on Saturday the 18th. The morning swell kicks up to 6ft from the S, with a period of 15 seconds. That’s a proper groundswell, and the combined energy jumps way up to 1739, which is strong. The wind is a light cross-onshore, so it’ll be a little bumpy but surfable. This is the biggest pulse in the whole window, but it’s still rated as marginal, so don’t expect perfection. The water temp is about what you’d expect for this time of year, nothing unusual there.
Then there’s a glimmer on Saturday the 25th. The morning swell is 3ft from the SSW with a long period of 21 seconds and a combined energy of 1446, so that’s good energy. The wind is light cross-onshore, which is manageable. The afternoon gets a bit better with 4ft from the SSW, period 13 seconds, and energy at 1194. The wind stays light. This is the best of the second week, but it’s a long way out, so keep an eye on it.
If you’re set on getting wet, the 18th and the 25th are your best bets. Don’t bother with the rest.
Rusty.
