Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright buddy, let’s talk surf in terms you’re used to. The first real chance we get is on Thursday the 9th of July. Before that, it’s a desert.
Nobbys Reef is the only spot in the game. Thursday morning you’ve got a 7-foot swell from the southeast (10-second period), with a light west-southwest breeze at 9 mph. That gives you a clean, off-shore flow, and the combined energy is moderate at 902. This is a reef, it’s inconsistent, and it’s for advanced guys only. It’s the first decent look we get, so if you’re keen, that’s your window.
Friday the 10th drops to a 5-foot southeast swell, winds go light and cross-shore, and it gets chopped up. Not the one.
Now, Saturday the 11th of July is a real sleeper. The morning shows a 4-foot southeasterly swell (9-second period), but the wind is a light offshore from the northwest at 6 mph. The water is clean, glassy. Energy is low at 271, but when it’s that clean on an inconsistent reef, you’ll get a few gems. The afternoon stays clean with a moderate offshore breeze, though it drops to 4 feet. This is your top pick for the first week.
The next few days are a bust. From Sunday the 12th through Thursday the 16th, you’re looking at tiny surf under 3 feet, mostly poor conditions or weak, jumbled energy. Tuesday the 14th has a 3-foot south swell with offshore wind, but it’s just too small to get excited.
The absolute king of this forecast is Friday the 17th of July. The morning brings a solid 5-foot south swell (10-second period) with a light offshore breeze from the west at 6 mph. Combined energy is 697 – that’s a very good forecast. The afternoon goes dead calm, glassy, with the swell settling to 4 feet but developing a longer 13-second period and 845 energy. That’s as good as it gets for a reef break. Inconsistent, advanced, but if you’re in the water, you’ll know it.
Saturday the 18th still holds some swell at 4 feet from the south-southeast, with a fresh offshore northwest wind at 16 mph. It’s clean but a little wind-chopped. Still worth a paddle if you missed Friday.
After that, it’s back to small stuff. Sunday the 19th and Monday the 20th have some swell, but the winds aren’t as kind. Monday morning shows 6 feet from the south with a gentle offshore breeze – could be a nice windswell session, but not a standout.
Water temp is about normal for this time of year. So to wrap it up: the two real windows are Thursday the 9th for a clean start, Saturday the 11th for a glassy small-wave day, and the absolute best session of the whole run is Friday the 17th of July. Mark it.
Rusty.
