Table - best surf conditions forecast for Nobbys Reef over the next 16 days.
Alright crew, Rusty here with a look at Nobbys Reef over the next couple of weeks. This advanced reef spot is fussy, and the forecast is all over the place.
We start off rough on Wednesday the 8th: an 8ft SE swell with an 11-second period, but the wind is a dirty cross-onshore from the SSE. It’s choppy and ugly, with massive energy, but no quality for a paddle. Water temp is a normal 66°F, nothing strange there.
Thursday the 9th is still messy. The swell drops to around 7ft, but it’s still cross and cross-onshore, keeping things lumpy. Not worth the drive.
Friday morning the 10th is a little better. Swell down to 5ft from the SE, period at 9 seconds, but the wind goes light offshore from the W. It’s clean. Not a standout, but a fun little window.
Saturday the 11th is the pick of the first week. Morning has a clean 4ft SE swell with a light offshore NW breeze – glassy and tidy. Energy is low, so it won’t be pumping, but it’ll be clean. Afternoon stays clean with offshore NW winds, but the swell drops to 3ft.
Sunday and Monday the 12th and 13th get small and weak, barely 2ft with very low energy. Clean, but no push.
From Tuesday the 14th through Friday the 17th, it’s flat and mostly rubbish. Swell heights barely reach 2ft, and by the 16th and 17th we get strong to near-gale cross-shore winds kicking up a nasty little windswell. That’s not surf.
Saturday morning the 18th brings a 6ft ESE swell with a moderate cross-offshore breeze. Clean, and the energy climbs back. Improving.
Sunday the 19th is the standout in the second week. Morning brings a clean 6ft S swell with a light cross-offshore breeze. Energy is strong. The afternoon gets even better: a clean 5ft SSE swell with a moderate offshore NW wind. This is the best looking window of the whole run – glassy, punchy, and the reef will be working.
Monday the 20th offers a bigger 6ft SE swell (11s period) with fresh offshore winds. Tuesday the 21st pushes up to 8ft with a long 12-second period from the ESE, but the winds are fresh and cross-offshore, making it a handful for experts only.
Wednesday the 22nd settles to a 5ft E groundswell (12s) with clean cross-offshore winds. Thursday the 23rd morning brings a solid 7ft S swell with light offshore winds – clean and powerful. The afternoon, though, spikes to a massive 10ft S swell with a 13-second period and cross-onshore winds – way too big for this break, with massive energy.
To wrap it: Saturday the 11th is your clean, small fun in the first week. Sunday the 19th is the absolute standout – your best bet for clean, solid waves. Stay safe.
