Massaguacu Surf Forecast and Surf Report

Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s cooking for Massaguacu over the next couple of weeks.

First off, the water temp is sitting about average for this time of year, so nothing wild there. The outlook is a bit of a mixed bag. We’ve got a few days of small, rideable waves right off the bat, but nothing that’s gonna get the heart racing. The real story is a gap in the action – after Thursday the 24th, things go pretty flat. From Friday the 25th right through to early on Tuesday the 28th, there’s basically nothing to bother with. A proper lull.

Let’s start with the early window. On Monday the 20th, we’ve got a weak 3ft to 3ft swell from the ESE. The combined energy is only 116 (weak), with a short period of 8 seconds. The morning has a light offshore breeze from the NNW, so the waves will be clean, but it’s more of a longboard or funboard session. The afternoon turns glassy, which is a beauty, but the swell is still tiny. Tuesday and Wednesday the 21st and 22nd are much the same story – tiny, clean waves with light offshores in the mornings and glassy afternoons, but the energy is still weak (107 and 115 in the morning). It’s surfable, but it’s very ordinary.

Thursday the 23rd and Friday the 24th are a write-off. The swell drops to 1ft to 2ft, and the conditions are poor, with onshore winds coming in. Best to save the wax.

Now, here’s the standout. After that flat spell early in the week, Tuesday the 28th brings a pulse. Morning sees a 4ft swell from the SE, with a period of 11 seconds. That’s a longer period groundswell, meaning more energy and better shape. The combined energy jumps to 380 (moderate). The wind is glassy, with a light NE breeze. That’s the pick of the whole forecast – clean, solid, and with some real push. This is one for the intermediate crew, maybe a bit much for beginners. The afternoon turns onshore, so get in early.

Wednesday the 29th morning holds a similar 4ft swell from the SE, with a light cross-offshore breeze from the NNW. Clean again, but the energy is a touch lower at 328. It’s a very good follow-up day.

After that, the swell settles back down. The 30th and 31st are small again, with 2ft to 2ft waves. The wind is mostly light or glassy, so it’s clean, but the energy is weak (83-120). The first week of August sees a few more small pulses, but nothing that gets close to that Tuesday the 28th morning. The best on offer is that Tuesday morning session, no doubt about it.
