Alright, let’s talk turkey about this stretch of coast.
Honestly, it’s a rough two weeks for surfing. There’s a massive gap from right now all the way until the morning of Thursday, September 17th. Before that, it’s all flat spells or ankle-slappers, and when there is a sliver of a wave, the wind is usually on it. The water is sitting at a very warm 80°F, which is much warmer than average for this time of year, so at least the water’s nice.
The only day that even looks like it might offer something is the morning of Thursday, September 17th. El Masnou (a sandbar) will see a small pulse of swell from the SSW at 3ft. The period is a short 6 seconds, but the combined energy is a moderate (126), which is the biggest reading we see. The real highlight is the wind – it’s glassy, dead calm. That means the surface will be perfect. Still, this break rarely breaks, so it’s a gamble. It’s short-period swell on a sandbar, so the shape won’t be anything special, but for this area, that morning is your only real shot at a couple of fun, clean waves.
The other faint hope comes on the morning of Monday, September 21st. Another small pulse from the NE, 3ft with a moderate combined energy (84), and again, glassy conditions.
