The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Gotta be straight with you on this one. The outlook for Roc San Cayetano over the next 16 days is a tough pill to swallow. There’s just nothing on the horizon that’s worth paddling out for. This is a point break that rarely breaks, and this forecast is a classic example of why. The whole stretch from now through to Wednesday, August 5th, is a flat spell with no real surfable energy. We’re looking at a solid 16-day gap with no recommendations.
The groundswell is just not showing up. Swell heights are tiny, hovering around 0.3ft to 1.6ft, and what little energy there is comes from short-period windswell, mostly under 6 seconds, which just doesn't have the grunt to wrap around and stand up on this point. The combined energy is pathetically weak, with the highest reading being a measly 28, and most days it’s down in the single digits. This is a bad run, but for a spot that’s inconsistent, it’s not totally abnormal. Forecasts can change, but right now, there’s no sign of a pulse.
You’ll get a few mornings with glassy conditions, like Thursday morning, July 23rd, with a light NNW breeze and a glassy surface, or the morning of Saturday, July 25th, with a clean glassy look from a NE wind. But even then, the swell is next to nothing. There’s a slight uptick in combined energy on Sunday afternoon, July 26th, reaching 28 with a 1.6ft swell from the E, but the wind is a moderate cross-shore from the W at 12 mph, making it messy and choppy. That’s the best of a bad lot, and it’s still a poor surf call.
Bottom line: leave the boards at home. There’s nothing here worth chasing.
