The Lowdown
Well, grab a coffee and let's get into it, ‘cause honestly, for the next 16 days at Aiguaoliva, there ain't a whole lot to get excited about. We’re looking at a long, quiet stretch with no decent waves on offer. The first record kicks off on Tuesday, 18th August, and right through to the end on Wednesday, 2nd September, there’s nothing that qualifies as a proper surf recommendation. It’s a flat spell that just keeps on going.
Aiguaoliva itself is a reef break that rarely breaks, and when it does, it’s mostly for beginners—tiny, weak dribbles. The water temperature is 85°F right now, which is 7°F warmer than usual for this time of year—very unusual, like swimming in a bath.
From Tuesday morning the 18th, we’ve got clear skies and a light north breeze, but the swell is a pathetic 0.3 ft from the southeast with a period of just 5 seconds. That’s not even a ripple worth paddling for. The combined wave energy is only 1—basically nothing. Tuesday afternoon sees the wind swing onshore, making it even worse.
Wednesday the 19th offers a tiny improvement: 2 ft from the south, but the period is only 4 seconds, and the wind is cross-off in the morning. The energy is still weak at 25. By afternoon, the swell disappears entirely.
Thursday the 20th morning brings 3 ft from the south with a 6-second period, and the energy bumps up to 64, still weak. But the wind is cross-on, and it’s cloudy—messy conditions. That afternoon, a fresh 19 mph southerly kills any hope.
The rest of the week and into the next is just more of the same: tiny swells, poor wind, and zero scores. A few mornings have glassy conditions, like Tuesday the 25th with a light WNW breeze and 1 ft from the ENE, but the energy is only 28, and the break is inconsistent anyway. Not worth the paddle.
Even into September, the pattern holds—tiny, weak, and mostly onshore or cross-shore. There’s one morning on Monday, 31st August, with 3 ft from the east and period 6 seconds, energy hitting 50, but it’s accompanied by a moderate breeze and rain/showers—still not a quality option.
Bottom line: there are no standouts here. For a spot that rarely breaks, this blank run is pretty normal. Forecasts can change, but right now, I’d say leave the board at home. If you’re desperate for water time, look elsewhere—or maybe take up kitesurfing, ‘cause for paddle surfing, it’s a bust.
