The Lowdown
Alright, I'm gonna be straight with ya—this is a total bust for the whole 16-day window on Manitoulin Island. From now through the 18th of August, we're lookin' at a big ol' zero for any proper surf. Most days show no wave height at all, and on the rare afternoon like the 3rd or the 8th, you've got a pathetic 0.3m of wind chop with a period of just 2 to 3 seconds—the combined wave energy is a measly 1, so there's no power behind it. The wind does get favorable a few times: offshore and glassy mornings on the 10th, 12th, 14th, 15th, and 16th, with the 14th seeing a light 5 km/h easterly breeze and glassy conditions. But without any swell, that's just a pretty, flat lake. On the 17th and 18th, a moderate breeze from the southwest at 20 km/h kicks up some chop, but it's onshore and choppy—more of a kite-surfing breeze than anything for a paddle board. This kind of dead stretch is pretty normal for a lake, so don't get your hopes up. That's the sad truth of it.
