Alright, grab a seat. Rusty here, and I’ve gotta be straight with you — it’s a tough stretch ahead. Let’s break it down.
The whole 16-day window is a flat, frustrating grind for Mablethorpe. We’re looking at a long, barren gap right from the start. The first real recommendation doesn't even pop up until we’re well into the forecast, and even then, it’s a challenge to get excited.
The water is sitting at a balmy 67°, a massive 10° warmer than usual for this time of year — that’s freakish, honestly. Feels more like a bathtub than the North Sea.
Right now, and for the next several days, it’s a ghost town. Tiny, weak swell under 1 ft, mostly from the north with short, gutless periods of 5 to 7 seconds. The combined energy is pathetic, barely cracking double digits (8 to 15). The wind is mostly offshore or cross-offshore, which would be amazing if there was any wave to clean up. But there isn’t. It’s all a “poor surf conditions” tag — no scores worth mentioning.
This dead spell runs all the way through to around the 10th of July. We finally see a tiny pulse on the Friday afternoon (10th July), with 3 ft from the ENE, but the period is a woeful 4 seconds, and the onshore wind ruins any chance. The combined energy is still weak at 36.
The 11th of July (Saturday) brings the biggest swell of the whole outlook: 4 ft from the ENE, but again, a short 6-second period. The energy climbs to 88 — still in the weak category. The onshore wind is howling at 16 mph, making it a messy, blown-out affair. This is not for a beginner; it’s small but choppy and bumpy. Honestly, with that wind and weak, short-period chop, it looks more interesting for a kite surfer than a paddle surfer.
From the 12th onwards, it’s back to tiny, weak waves, mostly under 3 ft. The best conditions might be a couple of mornings with clean, offshore or cross-offshore breezes (like the 16th and 17th of July), but the swell is barely 3 ft and the period is a sad 5 seconds. The energy is moderate at best (44-51), but the waves will lack any real punch or shape. Mablethorpe is inconsistent at the best of times, and this stretch is typical of a flat summer run.
There’s no standout day. No session you’d mark on the calendar. It’s all a “maybe check the forecast again tomorrow” kind of vibe. We keep the stoke, because it never stays flat forever, but this one’s a tough sell.
