The Lowdown
Alright, surf is gonna be real quiet for a while. We're looking at a stretch of tiny, weak waves for the next several days, so don't get your hopes up just yet. It's not until Saturday the 22nd that things start to get interesting, and even then it's not huge.
We're talking about Mablethorpe here. It's a beach break that's inconsistent, so we need the conditions to line up. Right now, the water is a toasty 69°, which is much warmer than normal for this time of year, so at least it'll be comfortable while you're waiting for a set.
The first real chance of anything decent arrives on the morning of Saturday the 22nd. We've got a light offshore breeze from the northwest, creating clean conditions. Swell is a small 4ft from the north with a period of 8 seconds, and the combined energy is moderate at 291. It’s not going to be epic, but it's the best on offer. The wind stays clean into the afternoon, but turns onshore from the east, so the morning is your window. It's still not big, so if you're just getting into it, this could be a decent one to try.
After that, it drops back off again. There is a tiny bump of 2ft on Sunday the 23rd morning with light offshore wind, but the energy is weak, only 67. It's surfable, but pretty ordinary. The afternoon turns glassy, but the swell fades.
Then we're in for another flat spell. Small, short-period junk is all we get for the next few days. The middle of the week, from the 24th to the 27th, is really poor. There is a little pulse on Friday the 28th, but a storm blows in with rain and strong cross-onshore winds, just messing things up.
Looking further out, there's another small window around Saturday the 29th. The morning has fresh offshore winds and a tiny 1ft swell. It’s not much, but clean. The afternoon sees a bit of a bump to 3ft from the southeast, but the period is a short 4 seconds, so it'll be weak and lumpy.
Honestly, the long-range stuff is promising but not much to get excited about. The forecast for Sunday the 30th shows strong winds, but they're offshore and it'll be hard to paddle into the tiny waves.
So, there you have it. Keep your expectations low for the next couple of weeks. The standout is Saturday the 22nd, and maybe a quick one on the morning of Sunday the 23rd if you're keen. It's the kind of forecast where you have to be in the right place at the right time.
