The Lowdown
Alright, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's on offer for the Mablethorpe region.
Honestly, mate, I'm looking at this 16-day stretch and it's a tough one. The truth is, there are no good surf options to get excited about in this whole window. The waves are just too small, and the wind's often in the wrong place. It's a bit of a flat spell, but for an area like this, that kind of run isn't unusual. Forecasts can change, so don't bin the boards just yet, but for now, we're in a waiting game.
The only real talk of swell comes early on. We start off with a pulse on Saturday the 18th of July. The morning offers up a 3.6ft swell from the north with a short, weak 6-second period, and the combined energy is only 89. That's weak. The wind is a fresh 18.6 mph from the NNW, which is cross-offshore, so it'll be clean. But the water is a whopping 4.5° warmer than usual for this time of year, which is very unusual. This swell is too weak to do much with, and the whole day is marked as poor surf.
Sunday the 19th sees a bump up to 4.6ft from the NNE, with a 9-second period. The energy climbs to a moderate 318. The wind stays a fresh 18.6 mph from the north in the morning, holding it cross-off and clean. It's the biggest swell of the week, but for a beginner-rated spot that's inconsistent, this is still not a standout. The following days just drop off. By Monday the 20th, we're down to 3.0ft, and the wind goes cross-shore or onshore, so it's just lumpy and choppy. The rest of the week into the start of August is a slow bleed of small, weak swell with no real energy.
So, to sum it up: there's nothing here worth paddling out for. The best you'll see is a clean, but weak, 4.6ft wave on Sunday the 19th, but it's not going to be a session to remember. Brace for a flat spell and keep an eye on the charts.
