Table - best surf conditions forecast for Les Roquilles over the next 16 days.
Alright, crew, Rusty here. I’m not gonna sugarcoat it – the next couple of weeks are looking bleak. We’ve got a big fat flat spell on our hands, and there’s nothing worth paddling out for.
The whole 16-day stretch is a massive gap. There’s no surf on offer right now, and it’s not looking like we’ll get anything you’d want to surf. The first hint of any real swell energy doesn't show up until July 21st, and even that is weak.
Let’s break it down. Sunday, July 12th starts with a tiny 0.3ft S swell and weak energy (1). Monday through the end of that week is more of the same – tiny dribbles from the S or SSE, most of it under 1ft, with combined swell energy barely hitting double digits. Wednesday morning, July 15th, you’ve got glassy conditions, but it’s on a 1ft, 5-second windswell – that’s barely a ripple. The water temp is sitting at a very unusual 76°, which is 6° warmer than what we’d normally expect this time of year, so you can have a warm float, but don’t expect to surf.
We finally see a pulse of energy on July 21st, Tuesday morning, with a 2ft S swell and the energy climbing to 29 – still very weak. The wind is offshore from the NE though, and it’s clean. The only place to even think about is Les Roquilles. It’s an inconsistent beginner spot, and the swell direction is from the S, which is close to its optimum SSE, so it might shape up a little. On Wednesday, July 22nd, the morning looks best – a 2ft S swell with 6-second period and a clean offshore NNE breeze at 9 mph. The combined energy is 43, weak by any stretch, but it’s the best we’ve got. Don't expect much, but if you’re desperate for a float, that’s your window. After that, it drops back off into the dirt for the remainder of the period.
The long and short of it: there’s no proper surf to be had. It’s a tough run for the area, but sometimes that’s how it goes. Forecasts can change, so keep an eye on it, but for now, leave the boards in the rack.
