Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s get straight to it – this is a tough outlook for Les Roquilles. Over the next 16 days, right through to July 20th, there’s simply no surf worth paddling out for. The finder shows every session as “poor surf conditions” with a score of zero, so I’m calling it a flat spell. The guidance tells us this spot is already inconsistent and best for beginners, and the crowds can be a pain, but right now there’s nothing to crowd about anyway.
The first few days, from Sunday July 5th onwards, we’ve got tiny 0.7–1.0 ft waves from the west or south-west, with periods a miserable 3–5 seconds. The combined energy is weak – just 2 to 4 – so barely a ripple. Winds are mostly cross or glassy, but the swell is too small to bother. Water temperature is a notable 75°F, which is about 6°F above normal – that’s very unusual for this time of year, so the water feels like a warm bath, but that’s the only highlight.
Moving into the second week, the swell tries to pick up a little around Friday July 17th, with a 2–2 ft westerly swell and period still short at 3–4 seconds. Energy climbs to 7–13 – still weak. Then on Saturday July 18th morning we get a 2 ft WNW swell with period 4 seconds and clean cross-offshore wind, but the energy is only 16. That’s about as good as it gets, and it’s still not surfable. By Sunday July 19th, it’s back to flat.
The best looking window in the whole run is Monday July 20th morning, with a 5 ft west swell at 5 seconds and combined energy of 98 – that’s the highest we see, but still just below moderate. However, the wind is cross at 12 mph, and the wave comment says “poor surf conditions.” So even that peak is a no-go for paddle surfing. The afternoon gets worse with a fresh cross breeze.
So sorry, mates – a blank run of 16 days. For a spot that’s already inconsistent, this is more normal than surprising. The only thing to do is wait for the next forecast. Keep an eye on it; things can change. Rusty out.
