Table - best surf conditions forecast for Lacanau Ocean over the next 16 days.
Alright guys, Rusty here. Let's talk about what's happening at Lacanau Ocean. I've got to be honest, the next 16 days are looking pretty grim. There's a long stretch of nothing, over a week, where the onshore wind just won't let up.
The water is sitting at 75°F, which is much warmer than normal for this time of year.
The first real option to mention is Saturday morning, July 11th. You’ll find glassy conditions with a light SSW wind, wrapping around a tiny 2ft swell from the west. The energy is weak at 71. It's surfable, but it's very ordinary. A 9-second period doesn't give it much punch. If you've got a longboard, it might be a fun little session.
Sunday morning, July 12th, is another chance. A clean 2ft from the WNW, but with a moderate 12 mph offshore breeze from the ESE. Energy is a very low 50. It'll be clean but tiny.
After that, it's pretty much a desert. From Monday 13th through Thursday 23rd, the wind is mostly onshore, and the swell stays small and weak. There are a couple of clean mornings on Monday 20th and Tuesday 21st with cross-offshore wind, but the swell is only 1 to 3 feet with low energy (21 to 70). Not really worth the wetsuit.
The one small highlight in the distance is Wednesday morning, July 22nd. We have a clean, offshore breeze from the east at 12 mph hitting a 1ft swell from the WNW with a 10-second period. Energy is still low at 51, but the clean conditions make it surfable. Then Thursday morning, July 23rd, it's back to onshore and choppy.
So the honest truth is there's no real standout in this outlook. The best you're looking at is a knee-high, glassy session on the 11th or a clean one on the 22nd. Don't get your hopes up for anything with power or size. Keep the board handy, but be prepared for a lot of waiting.
Rusty.
