Table - best surf conditions forecast for Lacanau Ocean over the next 16 days.
Alright, this is Rusty, checking in from the local beach. Let’s break down what’s on the menu for the next couple of weeks.
Right off the bat, we’ve got a bit of a flat spell. The first week or so is looking pretty grim for any decent waves. You’ll be staring at a lot of small, weak, and messy conditions. The first real glimmer of hope arrives on Monday, July 20th. That morning, Lacanau Ocean is looking at a clean 5 ft swell from the WNW, with a period of 7 seconds. The wind is dead calm, glassy as a mirror. The combined energy is moderate at 249 – it’s not a monster, but it’s a solid step up. This is a good window for intermediate surfers to get a clean, fun session in before the crowds roll in.
But the real standout, the one you’ve been waiting for, is Tuesday morning, July 21st. This is the best of the forecast. We’re looking at a solid 8 ft swell from the WNW, with a period of 9 seconds. The wind is a clean offshore from the ESE at 12 mph. The combined energy is strong, hitting 811. That’s a lot of power in the water. For the experienced crew, this is going to be a proper session. The swell is a bit on the bigger side, so it’s for the experts only, but it’ll be clean and powerful. Expect the crowds to be out for this one.
After that, the swell drops a bit, but Wednesday morning, July 22nd, still offers a decent 5 ft glassy setup from the WNW, with a long period of 10 seconds and a combined energy of 470. It’s a good follow-up day for those who want cleaner, less hectic conditions.
The rest of the window after that looks like a bit of a fade back to smaller, weaker, and wind-affected surf. The window is pretty long, but the clear winner is Tuesday the 21st.
Rusty out.
