Table - best surf conditions forecast for Seignosse - Les Estagnots over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s get into it for Seignosse - Les Estagnots. To be straight with you, the next 16 days are a real struggle. We’re looking at a long, frustrating stretch with barely a ripple worth paddling for. The first solid recommendation doesn’t even show up until Saturday the 11th, and even then, it’s not much to write home about. There’s a big gap of poor surf before that.
For the first few days, it’s all poor surf conditions. Thursday the 9th and Friday the 10th have onshore winds and small, weak swell. The combined energy is weak, between 85 and 106 – just sad. The water temp is a very unusual 74°, which is *much warmer than normal* for this time of year, so at least you won’t be cold while you’re sitting there disappointed.
Saturday morning, the 11th of July, is the first real chance. The wind goes glassy with a light easterly breeze, and we’ve got a 2 ft swell from the WNW. The period is a short 9 seconds, so it’s a bit weak, but the glassy conditions make it surfable. The combined energy is moderate at 106. It’s an expert-only break and it’s consistent, but crowds are often here, so expect company. Still, for a morning session, it’s the best we’ve got.
Sunday morning the 12th is a repeat – glassy again with that same small 2 ft WNW swell, period 10 seconds. Energy is a bit weaker at 85, but the clean conditions are a saving grace.
Then we hit another dead zone. From Sunday afternoon through to the 19th, it’s back to poor surf. The swell gets tiny, period drops to 5-6 seconds, and the onshore winds ruin everything. It’s a kite surfer’s paradise with the cross-onshore winds, but for a paddle surfer, it’s a write-off.
There’s a glimmer on the morning of Sunday the 19th of July. We get a clean, cross-offshore wind from the NE, and a 1 ft WNW swell with a 10-second period. Energy is weak at 63, but it’s clean. That afternoon, the swell picks up to 4 ft from the WNW with a 9-second period and moderate energy (190), but the NNW wind is a cross-shore, making it messy and choppy.
Then we finally see some size. Monday the 20th and Tuesday the 21st have 3 ft to 4 ft WNW swell, but the wind is onshore or cross-onshore, keeping the quality poor. The energy is moderate (110-188). The period is short (7-8 seconds), so it’s not a groundswell.
The standout in the whole outlook is the morning of Wednesday the 22nd of July. It’s still not perfect, but we’ve got a 5 ft WNW swell with a 7-second period, and the wind is a light onshore. The combined energy is strong at 225. This is big enough for experts only, but it’s the most size we’ll see. The onshore wind will chop it up, so it won’t be clean, but it’s the only time the energy really gets going.
The 23rd and 24th of July keep the size up (4 ft to 6 ft), with strong energy (179 to 500). The 24th morning is marginal, with a 6 ft WNW swell (8-second period) and light cross-onshore winds. Energy hits 500. But again, the wind is cross-onshore, so expect a bumpy ride. This is still expert territory due to the size.
Overall, if you’re desperate, aim for the glassy mornings on the 11th and 12th, or the bigger (but messy) days on the 22nd and 24th. It’s a grim run for Seignosse.
Stay patient, Rusty.
