Alright, let’s break down what’s cookin’ here. La Fitenia is a reef break that’s good for beginners, and the water temp is about 74°F, right where it should be for this time of year. But we’ve got a long stretch of flatness comin’ up.
Starting from Saturday the 4th of July all the way through the morning of Friday the 10th of July, it’s real tiny. We’re talkin’ swell heights of 0.7ft to 1ft from the SSW, and the combined energy is weak, under 100. There’s a couple glassy moments in there, like Sunday afternoon and Monday afternoon, but the waves are just too small to ride. It’s a dry spell for sure.
Then on Saturday the 11th of July, we finally see a pulse. Swell bumps up to about 2ft from the SSW, with a period of 20 seconds – that’s a long-period groundswell, so good shape and push, with longer waits between sets. The combined energy hits 368, which is moderate. The wind’s light from the SE, cross-shore. It’s not a classic day, but it’s the best we’ve got. The crowd here can show up “sometimes,” so expect a few heads.
Sunday the 12th of July holds similar energy at 313 with swell around 2ft, also from the SSW, with cross-shore winds. Still a marginal call, but the morning is the cleaner window.
By Monday the 13th of July, the wind turns a bit onshore and choppy, so quality drops. Tuesday the 14th of July has a glassy morning with 2ft SSW swell and light southerly airs – combined energy at 149, which is weak, but it’s rideable. The afternoon gets messy again.
From Wednesday the 15th of July onward, it dies back down into small, weak, inconsistent surf. There’s a glassy moment on Thursday the 16th of July morning with 1ft, but it’s just ordinary.
So if you’re lookin’ for the best bet, it’s the morning of Saturday the 11th of July. That’s the one with the most size, the longest period, and the most energy. The morning of Tuesday the 14th of July is a backup for some clean but small waves.
Otherwise, it’s a long wait. Flats are normal for this spot, but forecasts can turn. Keep your eyes peeled.
Rusty.
