Alright, let’s get into it. I’m lookin’ at Delray Public Beach, and I gotta be straight with you – the next 16 days are pretty much a bust for surf. There’s nothing worth paddlin’ out for. The water temp’s sittin’ around 86°, which is about normal for this time of year – no real anomaly to speak of. This spot’s usually fairly consistent, but right now the whole window is filled with onshore wind, small weak swell, and mostly “poor surf” flagged every single session.
Starting off Monday July 6, it’s a risk of thunderstorms with a 2ft SE windswell at a short 4 seconds – that’s just bumpy junk. Combined energy is only 14 – weak. Tuesday morning the 7th is even smaller at 0.7ft, with cross-onshore breeze. That pattern holds all week: swell stays under 3ft, period rarely climbs past 6 seconds, and the wind keeps blowin’ onshore or cross-onshore from SE, SSE, or ESE. Afternoon thunderstorms pop up a few times too. Saturday July 11 sees a little bump to 3ft, but it’s still cross-onshore and chopped. Combined energy tops out at 83 on Friday July 10 afternoon – still weak.
The only chance for cleaner conditions comes Monday July 13 morning, when we get a brief offshore from the NW – light breeze, clean lookin’ – but the swell is only 0.7ft at 8 seconds. That’s barely a ripple, and combined energy is 12. Not worth the drive.
From there it’s more of the same: small, onshore, poor. A little NNE swell tries to show up Thursday July 16 with 2ft and 9-second period, but it’s got that onshore wind again. Combined energy nudges 76, still weak. The rest of the second week stays tiny and messy, with cross-onshore winds and swell under 3ft. By Monday July 20, there’s a little 3ft ESE swell with some cross-shore breeze, but combined energy is only 51 and conditions are still “poor surf.”
So bottom line: no standouts, no good windows. This stretch is flat and blown out. For a beginner-friendly spot like Delray, there’s just nothin’ to ride. Hang tight – forecasts can always change, but right now I’d say take a break.
