Table - best surf conditions forecast for Delray Public Beach over the next 16 days.
Rusty here, let's talk about the waves at Delray Public Beach.
Look, I'm not gonna sugarcoat it: the next couple of weeks are looking pretty bleak for a paddle. Every single forecast record over the next 16 days scores a zero, so there's nothing to get excited about. We're looking at a long stretch of tiny, weak surf with poor conditions. The first few days are a write-off, and honestly, it's a grim run that stretches all the way through to the end of the forecast. It's not uncommon for this area to have a flat spell, but this is a long one.
We start off on Friday, July 10th, with a tiny 2ft swell from the SE at a crummy 4-second period. The combined energy is a measly (35), and we've got a strong onshore wind chopping it up. That's a total washout. Saturday the 11th is the same story: 2ft SE swell, but the wind is cross-onshore, making it even messier. The energy is still weak (41).
Sunday the 12th sees the swell drop to 0.7ft, and we stay in that sub-2ft zone for days. The wind is mostly onshore or cross-onshore, and the water temperature is a warm 86°, which is about normal for this time of year. On Thursday, July 16th, we get a brief moment of glassy conditions in the morning, but with only 1ft of weak NE swell, there's just nothing to ride. It's a classic case of clean but flat.
The second week doesn't offer any hope. From the 18th of July onwards, the swell is a pathetic 0.3ft to 0.7ft, the energy is non-existent (single digits), and the wind is almost always cross-onshore. There's a tiny bump on the 24th and 25th of July, with 3ft SE swell, but the period is a shocking 4 seconds (short and weak), and the energy is still low (41). It's just not enough to work with.
This setup is far more interesting for kite surfing than paddle surfing. There's just no wave energy to speak of for a surfboard. The forecasts can change, but for now, don't bother packing the board.
Rusty.
