The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s break down this next couple of weeks.
Straight up, this is a tough outlook. We have a 16-day window, but the first half is pretty much a write-off. A real dry spell, so don't hold your breath.
Delray Public Beach is looking at a flat, sad start. Tiny waves below `1 foot` for the first couple of weeks, with winds mostly onshore or side-onshore. The wave energy is embarrassingly low, barely getting into double digits. For a beginner-friendly break, there's just nothing to practice on. Expect a big dead zone from now until the end of August.
Things finally start to show a pulse around Thursday, August 27th. The morning brings a `1 ft` swell from the ESE, with the period picking up to 12 seconds. The energy climbs to a more respectable 74. It’s still small, but that longer-period groundswell will make for better shaped little runners. The wind is light and onshore, but it's the best we’ve seen in a long time.
Friday, August 28th and Saturday, August 29th keep the `1 ft` NE swell going with light morning breezes. Energy sits in the 30s and 40s. Nothing to write home about, but finally consistent enough to make a session worthwhile for someone on a longboard.
The best of the whole run is way out on Tuesday morning, September 1st. We have a `3 ft` swell from the East, but with a short period of 5 seconds. The energy is moderate at 53. The wind from the South is light, providing a clean, glassy cross-shore. That’s your window. It’s a short-period windswell, so don't expect heavy barrels, but for clean, fun little waves at the beach, that morning is the clear standout.
So, you wait two weeks, then the last few days of the forecast, especially that Tuesday morning, are your best chance to get wet with something clean. It’s not pumping, but it's a session.
Rusty.
