The Lowdown
Alright, Rusty here again, same story, different numbers.
Let's be real, the next 16 days at Delray Public Beach are looking flat and grim. The forecast is a real bummer for anyone wanting to get a wave. We're talkin' a long stretch of nothing burger conditions. The swell energy is weak.
The first real chance of anything surfable is a long way off, but we have to wade through a lot of flatness first. For the first week and a half, it's just one no-go after another. The swell is tiny, the periods are short, and the wind is mostly onshore or cross-onshore, makin' a mess of the water. The water temp is sittin' about 86°, which is about normal for the time of year, so at least a swim is nice, but for surfing? Forget it.
We finally see a tiny glimmer of hope on the 28th of July. The Tuesday morning session could be a sneaky one. Swell is still tiny at 2ft, coming from the south, but the wind is a light cross-offshore from the WSW. That'll clean the surface right up, making it glassy. The energy is still weak, but if you're desperate for a paddle, the conditions will be the best they've been all outlook. It's a beginner spot anyway, so those tiny waves are perfect for a learner.
The 29th of July Wednesday morning also shows a clean window with offshore winds from the WNW, and very small waves, 0.7ft from the east. Again, the energy is weak, so it's a glassy lake, not a surf break. But if you're just learning to pop up, this is your window.
Honestly, that's it. The run of poor surf is almost the entire 16 days. The one or two clean windows are for absolute ankle-biters only. The swell direction is mostly from the east and southeast, which isn't ideal for this spot, and the crowds are listed as "sometimes" so when there is a clean, tiny wave, you might have a few others out with you. For a proper paddle, this forecast is a write-off. Keep your board in the car and check the forecast again in a few days.
Rusty.
