The Lowdown
Alright, let's get into it. Rusty here, looking at the next couple of weeks for us.
Honestly, it's a tough stretch ahead. For the first two weeks, it's mostly flat and messy. We're looking at a long gap of poor surf from now until the end of the first week of September. The waves are tiny, the wind is mostly onshore or cross-onshore, and it's just not worth paddling out. You'd be fighting chop and barely getting a ride. There's a bit of a tease right at the end of the first week, but it's still not clean enough to get excited about.
The real hope, and the only standout in this whole 16-day window, is Saturday the 5th of September. That morning, Delray Public Beach is looking like the one to set your alarm for. We've got a north-northeast swell pushing in at 4.3 ft, with a period of 10 seconds. That's enough juice to get some proper waves breaking. The water temp is sitting at a toasty 86.7°F, which is about normal for this time of year. The best part? Glassy conditions. A light SSW breeze at 3 mph will have the surface looking like a mirror. This is the kind of morning that makes the long wait worth it. It's a beginner-friendly break, but it's fairly consistent and with that clean, glassy surface, it'll be fun for everyone. Just keep in mind that crowds are possible there.
The morning of Friday the 4th of September is a secondary option. The swell is a bit smaller at 3.6 ft from the northeast, and it's also glassy, but the energy is much weaker, so it won't have the same punch.
Summing it up: the first two weeks are a write-off. Ride the flat spell, rest up, and get ready for that Saturday the 5th morning session. It's the only real highlight on the cards.
