Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s take a long, hard look at what’s on the table for our little stretch of sand. I’ll be straight with you – this isn’t going to be a week for the history books. We’ve got a 16-day window ahead, but honestly, it’s looking like a quiet, frustrating run. The first real sniff of anything worth paddling out for? Well, there’s not a single standout recommendation across the whole period. We’re looking at a long, dry spell with no real surf on offer.
So, what’s the story? From now through the end of the forecast, the waves are tiny. We’re talking ankle-snappers at best. The swell energy is weak, with figures mostly under 100 (like 9 to 67) – that’s barely a ripple. The wind is the real kicker; for days on end it’s blowing cross-onshore or onshore, keeping any little bump there is chopped up and messy. There’s a couple of mornings, like Monday the 13th, where the wind goes glassy, but the swell is still a pathetic 0.7ft out of the east with a short period of 8 seconds. It’d be clean, sure, but there’s nothing to ride.
Water temps are sitting around average for this time of year – nothing wild there. For the beginner crowd at Delray Public Beach, even the small stuff on a clean day might be okay for a splash, but don’t expect a wave you can actually turn on.
Because the swell is tiny and the wind keeps messing it up, and it’s a beach break, this setup honestly looks more interesting for kite surfing than paddle surfing. If you’ve got a kite, you might find some fun on those afternoons with a solid breeze, but for a surfer? You’re better off waiting for the next system.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but sometimes that’s how it goes. A blank run like this is more normal for the area when the summer pattern sets in. Forecasts can change, but right now, there’s nothing to get excited about.
Rusty.
