Table - best surf conditions forecast for Delray Public Beach over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's be straight with you – the next couple of weeks are looking pretty flat for Delray Public Beach. We've got a real stretch of nothing happening for a while.
The first real chance of anything surfable doesn't even show up. From Saturday the 11th all the way through, we're looking at a string of days with tiny, weak swell. The 16-day window is basically a write-off for any decent waves. We're talking about swell heights barely hitting 1ft to 2ft, with periods all over the place but mostly short and weak. The combined energy is pathetic, sitting in the teens and twenties (31 and 26 being the highest early on), which is just not enough to push anything worthwhile.
The wind is another problem. For the first week, it's mostly onshore or cross-onshore from the southeast, which is the wrong direction for this spot. That means the little bumps we do get are chopped up and messy. The water temp is sitting at 86°F, which is a touch warmer than usual for this time of year, but that's little comfort when there's no surf.
There's a tiny glimmer of hope on Friday morning, July 17th. The wind goes glassy from the SSW, and the swell is a tiny 1ft from the NE. It's still poor conditions overall, but if you're absolutely desperate for a paddle and have a longboard, you might find a knee-high slop. The combined energy is only 12, so it's a real struggle.
After that, it's back to the same story. Saturday morning, July 18th, has another glassy period with a 0.3ft swell – that's barely a ripple. By Sunday, July 19th, the wind swings cross-offshore from the SW, which cleans things up, but the swell is still 0.3ft in the morning. The afternoon might see a tiny pulse of 3ft, but it's southerly and the wind is cross-onshore again, so it'll be a choppy mess.
Honestly, this is a total blank run. For a beach break like this, it's pretty normal to have extended flat spells in the summer. The forecasts can change, but right now, there's nothing to get excited about. Don't bother waxing your board for the next two weeks unless you just want to sit on the sand.
Rusty.
