The Lowdown

Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s be straight with you – it’s a tough stretch coming up for Ciammarita. We’ve got a long, dry spell before anything worth paddling out for shows up.

The whole 16-day window is a bit of a heartbreaker. From now until the morning of Friday the 11th of September, the surf is basically a write-off. That’s a solid gap of nearly two weeks with nothing but flat, weak, and messy conditions. The swell energy is tiny, often sitting at low numbers, and the winds are almost always cross-on or choppy. It’s not the time to be a surfer in this spot.

The only real flicker of life comes right at the tail end of the forecast. On Friday morning, the 11th of September, we finally see a pulse. The swell bumps up to about 3ft from the west with a period of 7 seconds, and the combined energy climbs to 93. It’s weak, but it’s something. The wind is glassy from the southeast, which is a massive win for the surface. The waves will be clean, but the shape will be ordinary – it’s a beach setup, so that short period swell won’t offer much push. It’s a beginner-friendly wave size, but not a standout.

If you’re desperate for a paddle, Saturday the 12th of September morning is similar. Another 2ft west swell, glassy conditions, and energy at 53. It’s small, clean, and again, just ordinary. The following Sunday morning, the 13th of September, offers a little more size at about 3ft from the northwest, with a clean cross-off wind, but the energy is still just 80. It’s surfable, but not something you’d write home about.

There’s no true standout in this whole forecast. The best we get is a couple of glassy mornings with knee-high, weak waves. For a beginner who just wants to feel the glide, Friday the 11th and Sunday the 13th are your best bets. For anyone else, it’s a waiting game.

Stay patient, keep an eye on the charts, and don’t ship your board just yet. Things can change, but right now, it’s a quiet one.

Rusty.
