Table - best surf conditions forecast for Il Convento over the next 16 days.
Alright, this is Rusty. Let’s be straight with you. Over the next couple of weeks, we’re looking at a long, quiet stretch. The finder shows some tiny bumps here and there but nothing that’s really going to get the heart racing. Water temp is sitting at 79°F, which is about 5°F warmer than normal for this time of year – that’s a pretty noticeable jump, so you’ll be in for a warm one if you do go in.
First up, Il Convento. This is a reef and point set-up, exposed to the swell. It’s inconsistent and rarely breaks, so it takes a special set of conditions to get it working. For this whole 16-day run, the biggest pulse comes in on Saturday, July 12, morning. Swell is bumping to 4ft from the SE, with a short period of 6 seconds – not a lot of push. Combined wave energy is up at 88, so there’s a bit of juice but it’s weak to moderate. The wind is light NNE, offering a clean cross-offshore look, so the surface should be tidy. It’s surfable but it’s very ordinary. That’s about as good as it gets, and honestly, it’s nothing special. Crowds can pop up here sometimes, but with waves this small, it won’t be a circus.
From Sunday, July 13 right through to Saturday, July 25, the swell drops into the tiny zone – under 2ft, periods so short you’d barely call it a wave. Combined energy sits in single or low double digits. There are lots of glassy or light offshore mornings – July 13 morning, July 15 morning, July 18 morning and afternoon, July 20 and 21 mornings – all clean and inviting. But with hardly any swell to ride, you’re just floating. The afternoon of July 21 shows a 1ft from the SSW and a moderate offshore from the NW, still clean but tiny.
The pattern here is clear: no standout days, no pumping swell. For a break that is as inconsistent as Il Convento, a flat run like this is more normal than unusual. Don’t hold your breath. If you’re desperate for a paddle and a few close-outs, pick a clean morning between July 12-15, but keep expectations low.
That’s it from me. Hang loose.
