The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's coming up for our corner of the world over the next couple of weeks. I gotta be straight with you – it's looking pretty quiet. The water's sitting at a balmy 84° at Il Convento right now, which is much warmer than normal for this time of year, so at least the swims will be nice.
The whole 16-day stretch is a bit of a flat spell. From now right through until the end of the month, we're just not seeing any real push of energy. There's a tiny blip on the radar, but nothing that's going to get the heart racing. We're talking small, weak pulses of swell that barely register.
Let's jump into it. On Friday the 23rd of August, we've got a tiny little bump showing up for the Monday morning, the 24th. It's a small 2ft pulse from the ESE, and the wind goes glassy early. The combined energy is only 16, so it's not going to have any grunt, but for a longboard or a foiler, it might be the pick of a very quiet bunch. Don't expect much.
Then, the first week of September offers a repeat performance. Monday the 2nd of September morning sees another small 2ft SE swell creeping in with a period of 5 seconds. The wind goes glassy again, so if you're desperate for a splash, that's your window. The combined swell energy is weak at 21, so again, it's a tiny wave.
Honestly, there are no standouts here. Every single session in the forecast is tagged as "poor surf conditions". The swell is tiny, the periods are short, and there's no real power behind any of it. The only reason to paddle out would be for the warm water and the peace and quiet. The rest of the time, you're looking at cross-shore breezes and flat, choppy water. It's one of those stretches where you just have to wait for the forecast to change. Don't hold your breath.
Rusty.
