Table - best surf conditions forecast for Il Convento over the next 16 days.
The Lowdown
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s take a look at what’s on the table for the coming weeks.
Honestly, I gotta be straight with you – this is a grim stretch for Il Convento. We’re looking at a long, flat spell that’s gonna test your patience. There’s a gap of days with absolutely nothing, and when a little bump does show, it’s barely worth paddling out for. The first real whisper of surf doesn’t arrive until Sunday the 26th, and even then it’s a struggle.
Let’s break it down. Friday the 24th and Saturday the 25th? Total write-off. Zero swell, poor conditions. Don’t even bother waxing up.
Sunday the 26th morning is the only thing that even comes close to being a session. We’ve got a tiny 3 ft swell from the SE, with a period of 6 seconds – that’s short-period windswell, not much grunt. The combined energy is weak (62), so it’s not going to be powerful. The saving grace is a light NNW breeze, which is cross-offshore and should keep the surface clean. It’s surfable, but very ordinary. Don’t expect much.
Monday the 27th sees a similar story: 3 ft from the SE, period 6 seconds, energy still weak (46 to 47). The bright spot is a clean offshore NNW wind, so the ocean will look pretty. But with that wave height, you’ll be hunting for a knee-high runner.
After that, it’s back to the doldrums. Tuesday the 28th through to the end of the first week drops to 1 ft or less. Wednesday the 29th and Thursday the 30th mornings offer glassy conditions with that NNE wind, but there’s just no swell to ride.
The second week, from the 1st of August onwards, is a flat-out blank. Zilch. Zero. The only faint glimmer comes on the 3rd of August with a 0.7 ft SSE swell, then a tiny 2 ft SE bump on the morning of the 4th, but it’s all too small to be any fun. The energy numbers are pathetic (1 to 9), and the wave periods are short.
The bottom line: there’s no standout here. The only real contender is Sunday the 26th morning, but it’s a “maybe” at best. It’s not a day to get excited about, just a chance to get wet if you’re desperate. Il Convento is a reef and point break that’s inconsistent at the best of times, and this forecast is a classic example of why. It’s a blank run, and for this area, that’s pretty normal. Don’t hold your breath – forecasts can change, but right now, it’s a waiting game.
Rusty.
