The Lowdown
Alright, grab your coffee, let's take a look at what's coming our way over the next couple of weeks for Il Convento. I gotta be straight with you—this is a tough stretch. The forecast is looking pretty grim for quite a while, so patience is gonna be the name of the game.
We're staring down a long, dry spell. From now until about the 17th of August, there's simply nothing doing. Zero, zilch, nada in the way of surfable waves. The sea is basically flat, and while the mornings often look glassy or clean, there's no swell to work with. It's gonna be a tough run for anyone looking for a paddle.
Now, things get *slightly* interesting around Monday the 17th. We finally see a tiny pulse of swell, but don't get your hopes up. Monday morning, a 0.7ft SSE swell with a period of just 4 seconds trickles in, and the combined wave energy is a measly (2). That's about as weak as it gets. The wind is light offshore from the NNW, so it'll be clean, but you're basically looking at ripples. Monday afternoon bumps up to a 1ft SSE swell (period 4s) with energy at (3), but the wind swings cross-shore from the SW, so it'll be a bit messy.
The rest of the week into the next weekend is more of the same. A few tiny spikes of swell here and there—1ft on the 19th, 2ft on the 20th, but the energy numbers stay in the single digits or low teens. On the 21st, we get a 2ft SE swell with period 4s and energy at (14), and the morning of the 21st is glassy, so that's probably the cleanest you'll see it, but it's still knee-high dribble at best. The 22nd has a similar 2ft SE swell (period 5s) with energy up to (17), but the wind is cross-onshore, so it'll be lumpy.
Look, there's no standout session here. This is a real flat spell. If you're absolutely desperate, the morning of the 21st of August with that glassy wind and a tiny bit of SE swell might give you something to push a foamie around on. But for a proper wave? We're out of luck. The swell direction from the SE is what the spot wants, but the size and period just aren't there.
Keep an eye on the forecasts, though. These blank runs don't usually last forever. One good storm and it could change overnight.
