The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's cookin' for our local stretch.
Honestly, I gotta be straight with you. The next two weeks are a bit of a flat spell for San Agostino (Gaeta). We're looking at a real long stretch of tiny, weak surf with barely any energy. The combined energy of all swells directed here is a measly single or low double-digit, basically nothing to write home about. There's a gap of about a week and a half where the swell is just too small to even think about paddling out. The signals that are there are mostly from the west or southwest, but they're just whispers.
The first real glimmer of hope, and really the only standout in this whole 16-day window, shows up around the morning of Friday, 11th September. We might see a slight bump in swell, with heights around 2ft from the west, and a period of 6 seconds. The combined energy gets up to 50, which is still weak but at least a step up from the nothing we've had. The wind is forecast to be glassy from the northeast in the morning, which is a major positive. It'll be clean. The water temp is about average for this time of year, so no shocker there. But don't get too excited; it's surfable but very ordinary conditions. The afternoon will likely get choppy again with a cross-onshore. This spot is exposed to the southwest swell, which is the direction we need, and an inconsistent break for beginners, so if you're just starting out, this 2ft stuff is fine. Crowds are possible sometimes.
So, to sum it up: we've got a long, flat run. Friday the 11th morning is the one chance to get wet, but keep your expectations on the floor. It’s not a total write-off, but it’s close.
Rusty.
