Table - best surf conditions forecast for Circoletto (Rome) over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let's break down what this stretch of water is giving us.
Honestly, for the next couple of weeks, Circoletto (Rome) is looking pretty flat and frustrating. We’ve got a big dry spell ahead. From now, all the way through the first half of the period, it’s just tiny, weak dribbles and poor conditions. You’re looking at a good nine or ten days where there’s nothing worth paddling out for. The swell energy is barely registering, with values like 2 or 4, and the wind is mostly onshore or cross-shore, making a mess of things.
The first real sign of life doesn't show up until the morning of Saturday, July 18th. We get a pulse of 4ft from the west, with the swell period around 6 seconds. The combined energy jumps to 249, but it’s still being hit by a light cross-onshore breeze, so "poor surf conditions" is the call. Just a bit of shape but nothing to get excited about.
Now, Sunday July 19th is your best bet. The morning is looking alright with a 4ft west swell, a 7-second period, and a light offshore from the NE that’ll make it glassy. The wave energy is moderate at 150. It's described as "surfable waves but very ordinary conditions", but with that offshore wind, the clean lines might be worth a look for a session. It’s an exposed spot, and the optimum swell is from the SSW, so this west swell is a little off its best angle, but the clean conditions will help.
Later on Wednesday July 23rd morning, the swell gets a bit bigger at 5ft from the west with a 7-second period. The wind is glassy from the NE, and the combined energy is a solid 334. The report says "expect good surf conditions," so this is a standout for the end of the run.
For the rest of the second week, it goes back to small, weak, and messy. There’s a big pulse of 6ft from the west on Wednesday July 22nd, but with a strong 25 mph cross-onshore wind making a mess, that’s one for the kite crew, not for us paddle surfers. Too blown out.
So, to sum it up – don't hold your breath for the first week plus. The real highlights are Sunday July 19th morning for a clean, if average-sized, session, and then a promising window on Thursday July 23rd morning with glassy conditions and decent energy. Long-range, that last day is the one to circle, but it's a fair way out, so keep an eye on it.
Rusty.
