Table - best surf conditions forecast for Circoletto (Rome) over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s chew the fat on what’s coming up for our local patch.
Honestly, the next two weeks are a bit of a tough watch. We’ve got a dead run for the first week and a half, with hardly a ripple worth paddling for. The first real chance of anything surfable doesn’t pop up until Tuesday, July 21st, so you’re looking at a solid ten-day gap of flat or near-flat conditions. The only joint in the game is Circoletto (Rome). It’s an advanced, inconsistent spot, so don’t expect it to just turn on.
The first glimmer of hope is on the morning of Tuesday, July 21st. We’ve got a 5ft swell creeping in from the WSW with a short period of 7 seconds. The combined energy is moderate at 263, but it’s still a bit of a gamble. The wind is light, coming from the SE – a cross-shore – which will keep things clean enough. It’s a marginal call and the tide could be a factor, so it’s not a lock. By the afternoon, the swell jumps to 8ft from the W, but the wind clocks onshore and it gets messy. That’s expert-only territory and not looking great.
The other notable day is Wednesday, July 22nd morning. Decent 4ft WSW swell, but a moderate cross-shore wind from the SE will put a chop on it. Still, the energy is there at 166. It’s rideable, but not a standout.
The best of a slow period looks like Thursday, July 24th. The morning glass-off with a risk of t-storms brings a 3ft WSW swell and a 6-second period. The wind is calm, so it’ll be glassy. The energy is low at 55, but with zero wind, it’s going to be the cleanest wave of the entire run. That’s your best bet for a smooth, if small, session.
Overall, keep your expectations low. The water temp is about average for this time of year, so no surprises there. If you’re desperate, aim for the 24th morning. Otherwise, it’s a waiting game.
Rusty.
