Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's be straight with you, it's a quiet stretch ahead for this stretch of coast. The swell window's all but shut for the next week or more. We've got a long spell of tiny, weak waves to sit through.
Looking at the whole picture, it’s a flat spell. The first surf that’s even worth mentioning doesn't arrive until Monday, July 20th, so you’re looking at a solid gap of nearly a week with no real recommendations—just knee-high dribble and poor conditions. That Monday morning does see a pulse of swell push through, with waves building to 5ft from the NW. The energy jumps to a moderate 226 (combined energy). But here's the catch: it's paired with onshore wind, so it'll be a messy affair, and the 7-second period isn't going to do it any favours. That's strong enough for experienced surfers only, over 5ft, but the quality will be low.
The standout, if you can call it that, is really that Monday the 20th. Piscinas wakes up with some size, but don't get your hopes up for clean waves. The swell direction from the NW doesn't match the spot's optimum west direction. After that, it quickly drops back down. Tuesday the 21st morning has 4ft swell from the NW but with onshore wind, and the energy is a moderate 106 (combined energy). By Wednesday the 22nd, we're back to under 3ft for the rest of the outlook.
If you're a beginner, there's nothing in this forecast for you for weeks. For experts, that Monday the 20th offers a brief window of size but the conditions look more interesting for a kite session than a paddle session. The rest of the days are glassy or clean on some mornings (like Friday the 24th and Saturday the 25th), but with swell under 2ft, there's simply nothing to ride. Water temps are much warmer than normal for the time of year at 79°.
It's a blank run, and that's just how this area goes sometimes. Keep your eyes on the charts; it won't be flat forever.
Rusty.
