The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's cookin' for this stretch.
Alright, I'll be straight with you – it’s a bit of a grim outlook for the next couple of weeks. The only spot on the radar is Busca Vida, and to be honest, it's a frustrating watch. We're looking at a long stretch of poor conditions, starting with a real blank period.
Right from Friday the 11th of September, it's a no-go. We've got a small, short-period 5ft swell from the ESE, but that 9-12 mph cross-onshore breeze out of the ENE is just chopping it all to bits. The combined energy reading is weak, around the 340 mark, and the wave comment says it all: poor surf.
This continues right through the weekend and into the next week. Every day, the story is the same: small ESE swell, a persistent wind from the ENE or E that's either onshore or cross-onshore, and dirty, choppy conditions. The wave energy stays moderate at best, mostly hanging in the 200-350 range. There are a few moments on the 17th where the wind goes direct onshore from the ESE, but that doesn't help us. Even the arrival of a 4ft swell with an 11-second period on the 17th can't save it, as the onshore wind just kills any chance of a clean wave. It's a long, flat, blown-out week.
There's a tiny flicker of hope right at the end, on the 23rd of September. A pulse of longer-period swell, 5ft from the ESE at 12-13 seconds, pushes the combined energy up to 541-591. For a moment, it's looking like it might be the best of a bad bunch. But, the wind is still a messy cross-onshore, and the wave state is described as marginal at best. It's a tease, not a standout. The rest of the 24th and 25th falls back into the same poor pattern.
To be fair, the water temp is about average for this time of year, but you won't notice with the wind in your face. For now, Busca Vida is a total write-off. If you’re desperate, the 23rd might offer a couple of crumbly, choppy ones for a keen intermediate, but don't get your hopes up.
Rusty.
