Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
G’day, I’m Rusty. Let’s break down what’s happening at Zenith Beach over the next couple of weeks. There’s some solid swell coming, but it’s a mixed bag of good clean waves and some serious size that’ll have you thinking twice.
The first real window to paddle out is Saturday the 4th. The morning is looking clean with a light offshore breeze and a 3ft south swell running on a 12-second period. Energy is moderate at 380, and those winds will keep the faces glassy. The afternoon gets a bit more bumpy with a cross-shore wind and the swell picking up to 5ft. Saturday morning is definitely the go-to for a smooth, fun session.
Brace yourself for Sunday the 5th through Monday the 6th. Sunday morning we’ve got a 10ft south swell, but it’s blowing a fresh 35 km/h cross-offshore wind, so it’s clean. But at nearly 10ft, this is big – only for the experienced lot. The combined energy is pumping at 2324. Sunday arvo and Monday stay in that 8ft to 10ft range, with cross-shore winds making it lumpy. This is serious, powerful stuff.
Tuesday the 7th through Thursday the 9th keeps the pattern – swells sitting between 8ft and 10ft, with cross-offshore winds keeping things clean but the size is intimidating. Wednesday morning the 8th has a 10ft SSE swell with a 10-second period and a massive 3300 energy reading. This is expert-only – heavy, powerful, and not for the faint-hearted.
Things start to ease from Friday the 10th into Saturday the 11th. Friday morning brings a 8ft swell with a nice offshore breeze, clean but still substantial. Saturday the 11th morning is a much better prospect – 5ft from the SSE with a 10-second period and clean offshore wind. Energy is down to 477. This is the spot for intermediates to get a good wave.
From Sunday the 12th onward, the swell drops away fast. Sunday morning offers a small 3ft ESE groundswell with a long 12-second period and clean conditions, but energy is only 265. It’s a longboard wave. Monday the 13th and Tuesday the 14th are tiny – ranging from 1.0ft to 6ft – mostly clean but weak. Tuesday arvo sees a 8ft south swell with clean conditions and energy back up to 1712, but it’s inconsistent.
Wednesday the 15th and Thursday the 16th are marginal and messy. Winds turn cross-onshore by Thursday, making it a write-off. Friday the 17th has a bit of life: a 4ft SE swell with a short 7-second period and light offshore wind, energy at 391. It’s clean but short-period – worth a paddle if you’re keen. Saturday the 18th and Sunday the 19th are small and messy, with light rain and cross-shore winds. Sunday swings back to clean offshore with a 4ft swell, but it’s ordinary.
The standout sessions are Saturday morning the 4th for clean fun, and Saturday the 11th morning for a bigger but manageable swell with offshore conditions. If you’re a seasoned charger, Sunday the 5th morning and Wednesday the 8th morning will give you big, clean waves – just know your limits.
Rusty out.
