Alright, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s on offer for the next couple of weeks.
Honestly, it’s looking pretty bleak. We’ve got a long stretch of nothing coming up. For the entire 16-day window, there’s no proper surf to speak of. The first recommendation doesn’t roll in until Sunday, July 5th, and even then, it’s barely a ripple. We’re looking at a gap of nearly two weeks until we see any real energy, and even then, the quality doesn’t improve.
The water is sitting at 75.7°, which is a massive 8.5° warmer than usual for this time of year – incredibly unusual.
Sunday July 5th – Troia: The morning starts glassy with some clouds but there’s absolutely no swell. The combined energy is 0. By the afternoon, a tiny 0.3ft swell from the south with a 12-second period shows up, but it’s crossed up by a 15 km/h WSW wind. The wave comment says it all: poor surf conditions.
Monday July 6th to Saturday July 11th: It’s a sad run. We get a constant stream of tiny 0.3ft to 1.3ft swells with periods all over the place – some as short as 3 seconds, others up to 17 seconds. Combined energy stays in the low single digits most of the time, only hitting a weak 51 by the afternoon of Friday the 10th. The wind is mostly cross or cross-on, so even the small bumps are choppy. Not worth paddling for.
Sunday July 12th to Saturday July 18th: A slight bump in period – we see some 18 and 19-second groundswell pulses, but the height remains stuck at 0.3ft. The combined energy climbs to a moderate 26 by Tuesday afternoon the 14th, but with a howling 20 km/h onshore wind, it’s just messy. For a moment on Wednesday morning the 15th, a 3.3ft swell from the NW shows up with a 6-second period and a combined energy of 75, but it’s blown out by onshore winds. That’s the biggest height we see, and it’s a windswell mess. For the rest of the week, we’re back to 0.3ft. Some mornings are clean, like the 13th and 18th, but there’s simply nothing to ride.
Sunday July 19th – Troia: The morning has a clean offshore wind from the NNE and a 0.3ft, 17-second period swell. Combined energy is 11 – weak. It’s as close to “best” as we get, which is saying something. The break is inconsistent and exposed to the SW, so it’s not reliable.
Overall, if you’re looking to paddle, put the board away. This stretch is a total blank. There are absolutely no good surf options in the 16-day window. Given the break is inconsistent, this kind of flat run isn’t unusual for the area.
Short Range ForecastMostly dry. Warm (max 35°C on Sun afternoon, min 20°C on Mon night). Wind will be generally light. | Days 4-6 Weather SummaryMostly dry. Warm (max 35°C on Wed afternoon, min 17°C on Fri night). Wind will be generally light. | ||||||||||||||||||||
