Table - best surf conditions forecast for Troia over the next 16 days.
Right, folks. Rusty here. Let's talk about Troia. Plain and simple... we've got a real run of quiet surf coming up, I ain't gonna sugarcoat it. The outlook for the next couple of weeks is lean, but let's walk through what’s on offer.
The combined swell energy is mostly in the double digits, way under 100 for the vast majority of the period, which tells you just how weak the waves are. The water temperature is 76°, a whopping 9°F warmer than the norm for this time of year, so the ocean feels like a bath – a warm, flat bath.
First up, Tuesday the 8th of July morning is small, just 0.7 ft from the west. It’s clean with a north breeze, but there’s basically no energy (4). Wednesday the 9th morning is similar, 1 ft from the WNW, but it’s cross-on and weak (17). We get a glassy spell Saturday the 12th morning, but there's no swell at all (0). Sunday the 13th morning has a tiny 0.3 ft glassy bump (8), and Monday the 14th morning brings similar glassy conditions with a 1 ft wave from the west (6). The wind stays clean through the mornings, but the energy is just not there.
The second week doesn’t suddenly improve. There is some pulse of groundswell with periods over 15 seconds, but the heights are still pathetic – we’re talking 0.3 ft on Wednesday the 16th from the south (5 energy). The wind stays offshore, which is nice, but it’s basically flat. By Saturday the 19th morning, we get a bit of 2 ft from the WNW (31 energy), which is the biggest it gets, but it’s hardly a standout.
Honestly, there is not a single true standout session in the entire 16-day window. Every entry is marked as poor surf conditions and scores zero. It’s a rare stretch of nothing, but for an area like this, a blank run can happen. You’d need a serious groundswell and a whole lot of luck to see anything rideable. Chances are, if the wind picks up from the WSW on most afternoons, this looks more interesting for kite surfing than paddle surfing – at least you’d be moving.
Stick with it, though. It tends not to stay poor forever, and forecasts can change. For now, leave the board in the car.
Rusty.
