The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what's on the table for Troia.
Right off the bat, I gotta be straight with you – this 16-day window is a real stinker for surf. There’s no sugar-coating it. We are looking at a long dry spell with barely a ripple worth paddling for. The first recommendation doesn’t even pop up until July 13th, and even then it’s honestly just not worth getting wet for. From start to finish, the forecast is full of weak, short-period swell and messy wind.
The only break on offer is Troia itself. It’s a beginner spot that’s inconsistent, and the water temp is sitting at 74°, which is much warmer than normal for this time of year. You’ll be having a warm bath, but no waves to play in.
Let’s run through the pain. The whole first week is dominated by tiny swell – we’re talking 0.3ft to 2ft at best. The combined energy is pathetic, like 6 to 20 (weak energy). The period is mostly under 8 seconds, so it’s just wind slop. Most afternoons are blown out with a cross-onshore breeze, and when the wind goes light and clean in the mornings, there’s simply no swell to use it.
The second week doesn’t get any better. July 21st through the 28th is more of the same: flat mornings and tiny, choppy afternoons. The biggest bit of height we see is 3ft on the afternoon of July 17th, but that’s a 4-second period with a cross-onshore wind – it’s just bumpy whitewater. The combined energy hits a low high of 66 (weak energy) on July 18th afternoon, but the wave comment gives it away: poor surf conditions.
Honestly, there is no standout here. Not one day offers clean, rideable waves. This stretch of coastline is just locked into a flat spell. For a spot like Troia, a blank run like this is pretty normal when the summer patterns set in. It tends not to stay poor for long, but right now? Forget about it. If you’ve got a kite, the afternoon cross-onshore breezes and flat water might be your only fun. For a paddle surfer, it’s a two-week wait for a wave that never shows.
Rusty, signing out.
