Table - best surf conditions forecast for Trevone Bay over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what Trevone Bay’s got cooking for us in feet and miles.
Right off the bat, I gotta be straight with you – it’s a bit of a grim stretch. We’re looking at a solid two-week span where the surf just isn’t going to do much. For the most part, the swell’s tiny and the conditions are messy. There’s a glimmer of something towards the very end, but let’s walk through it.
First up, starting Wednesday the 8th of July, we’re seeing a weak little 2 to 3 ft swell from the W-WNW, but the winds have got it all jacked up – onshore and cross-onshore all week. The wave energy is next to nothing, barely scraping 100 (moderate energy) on occasion. It’s just not worth paddling out for. Thursday the 9th and Friday the 10th are much the same story: small, wind-chopped, and messy. Saturday the 11th through to Tuesday the 14th, the swell drops even more, down to less than 1 ft to 2 ft, and while we get a bit of clean, cross-offshore wind on Sunday the 12th and Monday the 13th, there’s just no power behind it – combined energy is well under 100 (weak). It’s a total non-event.
Things go completely flat from Wednesday the 15th right through to Wednesday the 22nd of July. We’re talking 1 ft to 2 ft slop, with periods all over the shop and winds swinging around. Tuesday the 21st afternoon shows a bit of a tick upwards with energy hitting 111 (moderate) and a 2 ft WNW swell, but the wind is onshore again, killing any hope of a decent wave.
Now, hold onto your board, because the very last entry is a bit of a curveball. On Thursday the 23rd of July, we get a sudden jump in swell. That morning, the swell comes up to around 7 ft from the WSW, with a short 8-second period and a combined energy of 550 (strong). By the afternoon, it’s up to a solid 8 ft from the W, 9-second period, and the energy rockets to 1093 (very strong). The problem? It’s blowing a fresh to strong breeze, cross-shore, making it a lumpy, messy, and choppy mess. For a beach break like Trevone Bay, that’s going to be a washing machine. Honestly, at that size and with those winds, this setup looks more interesting for the kite surfers than for a paddle surfer. And with a 28 mph crosswind, just getting out will be a battle. Not one for the beginners either – over 5 ft is pushing it, and this is well into expert-only territory if you even try.
The water temp is sitting at 62°, which is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year, so at least you won’t freeze while you’re sitting there watching the bump.
So the verdict is, sadly, a blank run. No standout days. If you want a wave, you’ll have to wait and see if that Thursday the 23rd cleans up a bit, but as it stands, it’s a no-go.
Rusty.
