Table - best surf conditions forecast for Trevone Bay over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what Trevone Bay has got cookin' for us over the next couple of weeks.
First off, I gotta be straight with you – the next week and a half is a tough one for us. The pattern is all about small, weak swell and a lot of onshore or cross-onshore wind. The water's sitting at a very warm 64°F for this time of year, which is over three and a half degrees warmer than usual, so that's a nice little bonus if you're just having a paddle, but for actual surfing, we're mostly looking at a write-off.
The first real surfable option doesn't show up until the morning of Monday, the 20th of July. Even then, it's pretty ordinary. The swell is a meager 4ft from the west, with a short period of 7 seconds and wave energy sitting at 157 (moderate). The wind is light from the east, making it cross-offshore, so the surface will be clean. But the size is tiny and the quality is just "surfable but very ordinary." It's a beginner-friendly wave anyway, but this is a long way from good.
The only real standout, and I mean the only one worth getting a little excited about, looks like the morning of Tuesday, the 21st of July. The swell bumps up to 5ft from the west-northwest, with a period of 9 seconds. The energy jumps right up to 487 (moderate to strong), so there's a bit more push behind it. The wind is light from the northeast, making it a clean cross-shore texture. It's a beach break setup, so the longer period will give it some shape, but it won't be too straight. It's still a "marginal" call, but it's the best of a pretty quiet run. Trevone Bay is a beginner-friendly spot, so this 5ft swell is right in the sweet spot for the learners.
The following Sunday the 26th of July has a bigger 6ft swell from the west-northwest, but it's a short period windswell at 7 seconds with a lot of energy (330). The wind is light and cross-shore in the morning, but the quality is still "marginal" and it's a messy, weak wave for that size. The afternoon gets ruined by a strong onshore wind.
Overall, there's a big gap of nothing until the 20th, and even then it's only one or two sessions that are barely worth a look. The surf is mostly poor. If you're desperate, the 21st morning is your best bet, but don't expect any barrels.
Rusty.
