Table - best surf conditions forecast for Tregastel Plage over the next 16 days.
Right then, let’s have a look at what we’ve got for Tregastel Plage over the next couple of weeks. I’ll be straight with you – it’s a pretty bleak run for this spot. The finder is showing zero scores for the entire 16-day window, so we’re not looking at any real surfable sessions. The break is inconsistent at the best of times, and this stretch is a perfect example of that quiet spell. The water temperature is about average for the time of year, so no dramas there, but the lack of any decent swell and poor wind alignment just kills it.
From the start on Friday the 10th of July, we’ve got a tiny 3 ft swell coming from the WNW with a period of 9 seconds and a combined energy of 121 – that’s weak energy. The wind is a cross-off from the ENE at 20 km/h, which would normally be okay, but the wave comment is “poor surf conditions” and the score is a zero. That theme continues all weekend. Saturday the 11th sees the swell drop to 2 ft, with a fresh cross-off breeze, and even less energy at 88. It’s clean, sure, but there’s nothing to ride. Sunday the 12th is even smaller at 1 ft, and the wind is strong at 40 km/h, just blowing the tiny ripples flat.
We then hit a real dead zone. From Monday the 13th through to Wednesday the 15th, the swell is between 0.3 ft and 2 ft, with negligible energy – seriously, the numbers are down in the low single digits and twenties – so you’re not missing anything. The wind stays cross-off or cross-shore, but there’s just no power in the water.
Things try to pick up a bit around Thursday the 16th of July, with a 4 ft swell from the west and a period of only 5 seconds – that’s a short, weak windswell – and the energy jumps to 66, but it’s still poor. The wind is cross-on from the west at 25 km/h, making it choppy. By Friday the 17th, we get a 5 ft swell from the WNW with a 7-second period and energy of 180 – now that’s moderate energy – but the wind is onshore at 20 km/h, and the wave comment is still “poor surf conditions.” The pattern of cross-on and onshore winds continues into the next week, with moderate energy but messy conditions.
Saturday the 18th and Sunday the 19th of July bring the biggest swell of the whole forecast: 6 ft to 6 ft from the WNW and NW, with 9-second periods. The combined energy hits 497 and 547 – strong wave energy – but the wind is onshore and cross-on, making it a lumpy, choppy mess. At over 5 ft, this is too big for beginners, and with poor wind quality, it’s not appealing for anyone on a paddleboard. The setup looks more interesting for kite surfing than paddle surfing during that stretch.
From Monday the 20th on, we see swells around 5 ft to 4 ft with moderate energy, but it’s all cross-on or onshore winds, so the quality is poor. Even the light breezes on the 24th of July with 3 ft swell and 9-second period (energy 213) aren’t enough to save it, as the wave comment stays “poor surf conditions.”
Honestly, there isn’t a single standout session in this 16-day run. The sea just isn’t cooperating. It’s one of those periods where the spot goes quiet, and that’s not unusual for an inconsistent break like this. Forecasts can change, but based on what’s in front of us, I’d leave the board at home for a while.
