Table - best surf conditions forecast for Tregastel Plage over the next 16 days.
Alright mates, Rusty here again. Let's break down what Tregastel Plage is serving up over the next couple of weeks in feet and miles per hour. It's a slow burner, I won't lie. There's a big gap at the start with hardly anything worth paddling out for. The wave energy is tiny, mostly under 100, so the ocean is just sitting there. Water temp is normal for this time of year, so nothing to worry about there.
From the 13th right through to the 22nd of July, it's flat or close to it. We're talking waves from 0.3ft to just over a foot, with short, weak periods. The wind is mostly cross or onshore, even if it's clean sometimes, there's just no push. The break is "inconsistent" by nature, and this stretch proves it.
The real action, and the standout of the whole forecast, is on Monday the 28th of July. The morning shows a 6ft swell from the WNW with a 9-second period. The wave energy jumps to 436, which is a proper kick. The best part? A light, clean cross-offshore breeze from the ENE. That's the golden ticket for this spot. The swell direction is exactly what this break needs. It'll be pushing the limits for beginners, but for everyone else, it's going to be clean, fun, and uncrowded.
There's a warm-up on Sunday the 27th of July. The morning has a bigger 6ft swell from the WNW, with a massive energy reading of 920 – that's strong. It's a touch too big for learners and a solid challenge for the average surfer. The wind is light and cross-on, so it won't be perfect, but it'll have power. The afternoon of the 27th drops to a 7ft swell but gets chopped up by a moderate cross-shore. The 28th is the cleaner, smarter choice.
The few days before that, from the 23rd to the 26th, are small again, with waves from 3ft to 4ft. The 24th and 25th get hammered by a fresh cross-onshore wind, making it lumpy and messy – that's more of a kite-surfing wind than a surfing one.
So here's the plan: ignore the first two weeks. Aim for the morning of Sunday the 27th if you want power and don't mind a little chop, but lock in the morning of Monday the 28th for the cleanest, most fun waves of the whole forecast.
Rusty.
