Table - best surf conditions forecast for Trestrignel over the next 16 days.
Rusty here, and I gotta level with you – the surf situation at Trestrignel is looking pretty grim for the foreseeable future. Over the next 16 days, it’s mostly a lot of flat, unrideable ocean.
Right now, we’re in a run of poor conditions. The best you’ll likely see is around Wednesday, July 10th. For a brief window, we get a clean, offshore breeze from the East at 12 mph, with a tiny 3ft swell rolling in from the WNW. The period is 9 seconds, so it’s weak. The total wave energy is low at 141, but at least the surface will be clean. It’s small enough for a beginner on a log, but nothing to write home about.
The weekend is a total loss. By Saturday the 11th, the swell drops and the wind picks up from the NE at 19 mph, making the ocean a lumpy, choppy mess. Sunday the 12th is even uglier – we get a huge 10ft swell from the NE, but with a short, messy 8 second period and 25 mph cross-winds. That’s 868 of raw energy, completely blown out. That’s too big for beginners, and for experts, it’ll be a washing machine.
Early the next week, Monday the 14th morning might offer a 5ft NE swell with some clean cross-offshore winds, but it’s still a short-period swell and the quality is rated poor.
And then it gets real flat. From the middle of next week right through to July 22nd, the swell drops to a pathetic 1ft. Just tiny, flat, and mostly onshore. There’s a small moment on the 20th with onshore wind and a weak 2ft WNW swell, but it won’t be worth the paddle out.
Water temp is running a touch warmer than normal right now at about 64°. This spot is always crowded, but that won’t be an issue with no waves.
It’s a dead run, and it’s one of those times that’s pretty normal for this area when the swell just shuts off. The forecasts can turn, but right now, I’d leave the board in the car.
Rusty.
