Table - best surf conditions forecast for Trestrignel over the next 16 days.
Howdy, Rusty here. Let’s cut to it—this stretch at Trestrignel is a struggle. The water’s sitting at about 65°F, a touch warmer than average for this time of year, but that’s where the good news ends. The wind is the main villain, stuck out of the east-northeast for days, blowing cross-shore and ruining any chance of clean surf.
Kicking off Friday 10th July, we’ve got a 3ft swell from the WNW, but with 12 mph ENE wind, it’s chopped up and poor. Combined energy is weak (141). The weekend doesn’t improve. Saturday 11th, the swell goes to 5ft from the NE, but the cross-wind bumps to 19 mph, making it lumpy (energy 247). By Sunday 12th, it’s 7ft from the NE, still cross-wind at 19 mph, energy hits 441—messy and too big for beginners. Anyone looking at this beach-break with all that chop might as well rig a kite.
Monday 13th is a mess—8ft from the NE, strong cross-winds at 25 mph, energy 575. The surface is lumpy and chaotic.
Wednesday 15th morning offers a brief break. The wind goes glassy—dead calm—and we get a 4ft, 7-second swell from the NE. Energy is low (166), and it’s described as surfable but very ordinary. That’s the one moment you might get wet without hating it. After that, the wind shifts onshore from the NNW through Thursday, and we’re back to poor conditions.
In the second week, Wednesday 22nd July morning shows a glimmer—a 4ft, 10-second swell from the WNW, with a cross-offshore breeze from the SW at 12 mph cleaning it up. Energy hits 205, so moderate. That’s the best of the run—clean but small. Friday 24th morning has another clean cross-offshore moment with 3ft from the west, but only 136 energy. That afternoon, the swell jumps to 6ft from the west with 408 energy, but the cross-wind comes back.
So, your standout: Wednesday 15th morning for the glassy conditions, but don’t expect much. The real pick is Wednesday 22nd July morning when the wind is off and the swell has a bit more period. Crowds are always a problem here, but with this outlook, you might have the lineup to yourself.
Rusty.
