Table - best surf conditions forecast for Trestrignel over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s get into it.
Straight up, the outlook for Trestrignel over the next 16 days is a bleak one. There’s no real quality surf on the table at any point. The whole run is a write-off, so don’t be holding your breath for a miracle. The water is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year, sitting at 65°, but that’s the only nice thing I can say.
We start off on Thursday, 9th July, with a weak, messy 3 ft swell from the WNW at 9 seconds. The wind is a cross-on from the NNE at 12 mph, and the combined energy is a low 120. It’s choppy and poor. Friday the 10th looks cleaner in the morning with a cross-off breeze from the East at 12 mph, but the swell is barely 3 ft, and the energy is still only 155. The afternoon gets worse as the wind picks up to 19 mph, ruining any chance of a wave.
Saturday the 11th sees the swell bump up to 5 ft, but it’s a short-period, wind-affected NE swell at 6 seconds, with a fresh cross-breeze. The combined energy climbs to 242, but it’s still a lumpy mess. Sunday the 12th through to Monday the 13th, the swell gets bigger, hitting 8 ft with energy up to 663, but the wind is a strong cross-shore, and the period is still short. This is not surfable; it’s just a choppy, blown-out wall of water, more interesting for kite surfing than paddle surfing.
The swell drops again from Tuesday the 14th onward, with heights under 5 ft, and the wind stays cross or cross-on for the rest of the period. By the 16th of July, we’re down to 1 ft waves with a combined energy of just 23. The long period groundswell that shows up on the 17th and 18th is tiny and won’t break properly here with the onshore wind. The last week of July is a total bust, with nothing but small, weak, onshore slop. There is no standout. There is no best on offer. This is a blank run, and for this area, that’s just how it goes sometimes.
Rusty.
