Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s break this down in feet, miles, and Fahrenheit.
The Overall Pattern
The opening window on Monday, July 6th, is your best shot. After that, we hit a long drought. From Monday afternoon until Saturday, July 19th, there’s nothing worth paddling for. The tail end of the forecast shows a pulse trying to build, but it’s late and uncertain.
Monday, July 6th – The Standout
Monday morning is the call. Trestrignel is glassy with a light offshore breeze from the ESE at 3 mph. The swell is a clean 3 ft from the WNW with a 9-second period. Combined energy is 108 (moderate). Great for beginners. Water temp is 63°, which is a touch warmer than average for this time of year. Crowds are always a factor here, so you won’t be alone, but for clean, fun waves, it’s the spot.
By Monday afternoon, the wind goes onshore and the quality crashes.
The Middle Period – Nothing Doing
From Tuesday, July 7th, to Sunday, July 19th, it’s a long blank run. There’s a bump on Sunday, July 12th (7 ft – 8 ft) with strong cross-shore winds up to 25 mph and a short 7-second period. The combined energy hits 734 (strong), but with that wind, it’s messy, choppy, and more for kite-surfers. Paddlers, stay home.
Late Window – Promise but Uncertainty
By Monday, July 20th, and into Tuesday, July 21st, we see a pulse. Tuesday morning, July 21st, shows a 6 ft swell from the WNW with a 7-second period and energy at 251 (moderate). Wind is cross-onshore at 12 mph. The afternoon is similar at 6 ft and energy at 372. It’s short-period and lumpy, but it’s something. For being so far out, it’s a hopeful but not certain.
Bottom Line
The one standout is Monday morning, July 6th. Get on it. After that, it’s a long wait until the end of the run.
Rusty.
